My husband is working in Brooks, Alberta as a butcher. He has recently received his provincial nomination which includes me and our three kids. I want to know if there is any process in which I could bring my 16-year old brother with us. My brother and I are orphans already and I am standing as his legal guardian. Can my husband also apply a petition for my brother or do I have to apply that for him? We really want to bring my brother with us since we consider him part of our family already and in fact has been staying with us since my parents past away. My husband is required to submit all pertinent documents regarding our petition this October 2010. Unfortunately, we have not formally applied for my brother's inclusion in our petition. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

You or your husband will need to apply through the provincial Nomineet program once your applications has been completed.

Thank you Lands. Just to be clear. My husband and I will have to accomplish our application first before we can apply for the petition of my brother? We were really hoping we could all leave for Canada all at the same time. Thanks again for your reply Lands.

You husband cant sponsor your brother..you need to do it..and for you to do it..you need to be a PR holder in Canada..

Your husband should have talked to the AINP before he got his nomination if there was a chance to bring your brother along. He can still talk to them now and he should. Maybe they can help. Maybe you can adopt him.

If not, you will be able to sponsor him once you get your PR. Your husband will have to co-sign and the two of you need to show enough income in the previous year to cover the needs of yourselves and your children as well as your brother. You can see at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english//information/applications/guides/5196E10.asp#cont idcont , table 3 that for a family of 6, you need $52,699 a year. It can still take a while for your brother to be able to join you if you sponsor him.

Thank you so much for all of your replies. We will definitely consider all the options you gave us. We hope we can still bring him with us as soon as we can. Thanks again
