Hi All,

I am currently working in canada since 1 year on work permit as S/W Engineer and my wife started working since 3 months on open work permit. She is also into S/W field.
Both are holding Masters Degree.
I want to apply for PR in canada and i went to Indian Embassy 2 weeks back for police verification certificate to start with.....
I registered for IELTS for April 10th slot in toronto.
What next do i need to proceed with?
I got 66 points altogether without adding IELTS Points.
1. Do i need to submit the application first or wait for April 10th IELTS exam and then get the result and apply that time?
2. Since i stay in canada....where do i need to send the courier(i mean the filled in Docs)?
3. What are the steps involved right from beginning till end in the PR process?
I know you may be answering the same sort of questions for everyone again and again....but we are in need of expert advice from people like you.

Thanks in advance.

Please re-check you points calculation. You should get more than 67, without IELTS.

Check this link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-how.asp

You can submit application first. After it is accepted, you will be given 120 days to submit IELTS and other documents as required.

Hi NITMA,

Welcome into this forum. All members before me have given u the correct advices. Just to add further... The ans to your 3 queries are:

1. Submit apps before or after IELTS:
...U may Apply now. Send the IELTS results later on or after u get the 120 days letter. Write 'IELTS applied'... attach the copy of its 'admission fee receipt'. If u think u'd score less than 67 w/out the IELTS [which I doubt], also enclose a 'written evidence' for your Eng skills.

2. Where to send the Apps:
...For IN CANADA APPLICATIONS here's the link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp
Quote/
Step 4: Mail the application
All applicants including those with arranged employment (category 2) and students and workers inside Canada (category 3) must now submit their initial application to the Centralized Intake Office.
1. BY REGULAR MAIL:
Citizenship and Immigration Canada

Federal Skilled Worker
Centralized Intake Office

PO BOX 7500
Sydney, NS
B1P 0A9
Canada

2. BY COURIER:
Citizenship and Immigration Canada

Federal Skilled Worker
Centralized Intake Office

196 George Street
Sydney, NS
B1P 1J3
Canada

/Unquote

3. Steps involved:
...In the foregoing link u'll find all your ans, as below:
a) Instruction Guide [IMM EG7000] (First & foremost to read)
b) Application for Permanent Residence in Canada [IMM 0008]
c) Schedule 1: Background/Declaration [IMM 0008 SCHEDULE 1]
d) Additional Family Information [IMM 5406]
e) Fee Payment Form –Application for Permanent Residence –Federal Skilled Worker [IMM 5620]

TIMEFRAME & ACTIONS:
After u send the 'initial apps' & 'fees*', in 2-3 months u'll get an AOR & the '120 days letter'. Within that 120 days submit a copy of the initial apps, alongwith all enclosures/docs [that letter will specify] to your 'local' CHC. Whereafter, the CHC might ask u for more docs/info [if needed], or u'll get your Meds call.

Once u submit the meds [it'll go directly to CIC from your DMP], in approx 2 months u should get the PPR [if not the PPR was clubbed with the meds]. Thereafter, u submit the Pps & the visas come back in 4-6 weeks [U might choose to get it stamped 'in person']. U'll have to complete your 'record of landing' on or before the visa expiry date, at a POE in Canada. The entire process might take anything between 6-18 months. Avg. 12 months. And there u go, buddy.

*There are a total of 2 Fees to pay. The 'Apps Fees' & the 'RPRF'. The Apps Fees u'll have to pay upfront alongwith the Initial apps. The RPRF can be paid later [usually CHC'll ask u before the meds]. However, it is good to pay it asap. Send it with the 120 days docs.

I Hope I could be as detailed as possible. And that it helped.

All the best !
