Landed in Calgary a few days ago.

Declaration form was provided in the plane by the flight attendant where you have to declare few things such as carrying funds 10000 CAD or more, carrying meat products, vegetables, unaccompanied goods etc.

After getting out of the plane, it was a 4 step process.

1) First I went to the custom area where I submitted my Declaration form. (All the passengers first go to this customs area to submit their declaration form)

2) I was then directed to go the immigration office. The officer there checked my passport and copr before stamping it. I also gave him a Canadian address for the delivery of my PR Card.

3) I then went to the baggage area and collected my bags.

4) Finally I was directed to go to a custom office near to exit. There I submitted my Goods to follow list and I wad told to show the funds that I was carrying with me. The officer there recorded my goods to follow list and funds that I was carrying. I was carrying with me 2300 CAD in Cash and 10000 CAD bank draft. Landing formalities was complete and I got out of the airport.

It took me nearly 1.5 hours to complete my landing formalities
Hi Rawdah,
Congrats.
One question as you may be knowing the answer. I am planning to move along first and family to return after couple of months. So how about settlement funds - do i need to carry for all members in advance and has to show OR each family member will carry ones own share once arriving.
Cheers !!!!!

I think you have to carry for all members when you land. Later your family members would not require to carry it when they land.

Hello, anyone looking to land in Calgary and would need information and advice on banking services and products can pm me or send me an email at hephzee@ gmail.com. I work on the industry , and a good advice that can help you save time and money is extremely valuable. Being a new immigrant in Canada is tough and challenging, I know that because I have experienced it.
If your experience is in banking and would like to know how to transition in banking here in Calgary, I would be glad to share whatever information and advice with you as well.

Let me first Congratulate you!

I wanted to ask that, at the time of application I choose Toronto as my port of landing, Now I am pretty certain that I want to land and settle in Calgary. Everyone has told me that under FSW 2013 program I can land anywhere in Canada except for Quebec, just for the sake of confirmation do you agree that "even though my landing was preferred at Toronto and the same is stated in my COPR, but I can land in Calgary?"

Looking forward to your reply.

Regards

Thank you so much Rawdah, thats a relief!

Good forum.

Thanks everybody.

Waiting for further updates from rawdah regarding experience as a settler.

Best luck.

Greetings to all Calgerians ;D

I have two questions:

1. I learned that the date of visa expiry will be upon the medical test / Passport expiry. We are 4 member and each one has a different passport expiry. So how this will work??? each one of us will have a different visa expiry date?

2. What if my passport will expire 6 months after the medical test, in this case when the visa will expire?

Thanks in advance,
W.

If the passports would expire 6 months after medical test, why don't you renew the passports to save those doubts? The passports probably are easier to renew in home country than Canada.

Being a FSW, You can mention any Province except Quebec in the Generic Application form.

Acceptance / Processing of your application has nothing to do with your targeted Province.
WHAT ARE THE CHANCES FOR DOCTOR IN CALGARY???
