Be happy. Atleast you have ur wife here with u. There r people here like me who applied visa for my wife and rejected from India. Now I have to wait for pr visa to bring her here. You shouldn't be sporting about open work permit at all. Just some words to keep urself going.

I am more desperate to get a PPR then other folks on this board!
As ppl might know who have been following my posts for past 6 months; my wife has entered in canada on fa visitor visa and she is having a problem getting a open work permit.
I am eligible from many different ways, but they just changed some policies in april 2011.

my wife is eligible ---
1. I am a skilled worker.
2. I have a PNP certificate..
3. they say on the website that you are eligible for a work permit, if u pass certain caetogaties of ur PR process...what could that process be...we are at the last stage.....

Now here is the new scheme from CIC starting spril`2011....
husband and wife both cannot have an open work permit at the same time...one has to be closed (mandotary)...
so even tho i am a skilled worker...my wife can only get a work permit , if i have a closed work permit with specified employed and NOC code.....which i think is rubbish.....tell me one thing, given this economy....why would i get my work permit closed and shoot my self.....think about it this way..what if i loose my job....

i am frustrated...my wife`s entry is expiring on dec 16th, 2011....
I hope no one has to go thru all this BS..

basically the spouses of PGWP students are not eligible for OWP.....simple...

so here`s the scheme....whoever comes to canada and files for LMO and get a closed work permit are able to get their spouses on OWP in months.....but if we students..pay thousands of dollors, contribute to the economy in everyway......and still get no OWP for their spouses...i dont think it is fair....

I know it is not a right to ask for a spousal OWP.....but to me it is a discrimination to PGWP students compared to other LMO workers....

Sam,

Please be GRATEFUL that your wife is here with you and can even apply for a work permit (whether closed or opened). So many people on her cannot be with their spouses/ and have been separated from them for a long time and cant even get them to visit, far less to work. Me included.

I got the same update on e c as . Medicals have been received ,

Saka 101,

Yes I have applied for me n my wife. She is from India . Her visit visa was rejected one time and then we applied for pnp. How abt urs?

Guys!
I really consider myself lucky for being able to bring her here.....
Dont take me wrong of being more greedy... its just that I dront agree with CIC policies sometimes.....which is just explained...
I hope everyone will be able to get their wifes here soon....Wish u all the best guys..
now lets keep cheering each other and wait for the golden moment to happen!

That's a good news. If you happen to know how the passport request and Visa sealing work for accompanying spouse (who is NOT in Canada) from your friends' case, pm me.

Rossei, have you figured out how the passport and visa sealing now u had your visa?

Where will i send my passport? Im a sponsored wife who is outside canada. Do i need to send it first to my husband who is in canada or directly sent it to the.. Hmmm.. Wait! Where will i send it btw? Haha.. Don't know sorry.. :) don't have Ppr yet, that't why. Just in case.

No you cannot do it in new delhi, you will only get your stamps form where you have applied your Permenant residence.
my friends PR got approved and he over confidently left to India thinking that he will get his stamps in new delhi and will do his landed procedure while entering back to canada....Unfortunately he was rejected in new delhi and was told that only Buffalo can stamp PR visas cz the application was made there...
Luckily he had the USA visa and he personally went to buffalo and got it from there.....

So dont think of taking that risk.....
