I got a similar reply from CIC stating that your application has been transferred to Ottawa Office and an exact timeframe could not be provided ... etc etc like i didn't know that.

It seems they haven't touched our applications yet at all. Provided the time they mentioned in May for us that is 60 days isn't over. It is true that August could stretch work delay in corporate environment but such should not be the case in Government agencies. Looking at this forum from a broader prespective I don't think CIC has speeded up the process to eliminate backlog by December 2012. On contrary it seems the other way round as if they have put our cases to stall for a while.

By the way, I applied under FSW in March 2011 and recieved my initial correspondence for file being transferred to Buffalo in April 2011. In May 2012 my file was transferred to Ottawa.

I also came to know that after a long wait of two years Visa Offices in New Delhi has finally started requesting applicants to do their medical. I hope it doesn't get as long for us.

Just checked with CIC – regarding your application. Currently the back grounds are outstanding, meaning that the immigration officer is working on this. There are no timelines when it comes to back ground checks.


Hence it is safe to say that we might be on background checks at this point and time, but I had a similar response of this sort in March of this year

I started loosing my patience again.

I do not know what else we can do about it.

1) Sent an email to CPP-Ottawa
2) Applied for CAIPS Notes.
3) Call CIC
3) Fax to 613-946-6059
4) Contacted Local MP's Office

Everything is like a stone thrown into an Ocean.

i also tried to reach CPP-Ottawa through E-mail and 1-888-242-2100 but no response from both.
I am in USA, may be cusomer care no. won't work for me.
But is there any way i can get any update about my file. Like which visa office have my file or is it tranferred to CPP-Ottawa? because my E-case is RBVO (Buffalo) since June 2011.

You mension to contact CIC. Is that help me in my Case? Can i have their contact no?

Hi Andy,

I think CIC call center will work, only if your are inside canada.

I havent got any feedback in all the option i listed.

May be you can try to send fax requesting your application status.

Or you can apply for Caips online. http://caipsnotes.com/

To send fax, do i need to fill out any application form or just a simple request letter.
Can you please provide any sample letter if you have, that will be great help.

Just a normal letter stating your UCI #, DOB, File Number, Name etc., requesting your application status.

I am a June 2011 Buffalo applicant with arranged offer of employment, which I assume was transferred to Ottawa as of this year.

I arrived in Canada in Feb 2011 and at the time I was made a offer a job a LMO was not required as software developers we exempt from the LMO.

With 6 months left on my work permit does my company need to apply for a LMO for extension of work permit even though they have made me a permanent offer or are software developers still exempt from the LMO?

Hi Kets,

Are you a Intra-company transfered guy? If so you might not need LMO for work permit.

Also if you are on LMO excempted job, you dont really need LMO for work permit extension.

I couldnt relate Software developer with LMO requirement.

No I am not a intra company transfer.

At the time when I got my 1st work permit no LMO was needed for IT professionals I think that has changed.

I think I will need a LMO for work permit extension right?

May be you might need LMO.

Mine expires on March 2013. But Started advertisement this week.
