march11pr... congrats for your PPR..

Had a question for you... How do you know if your background checks were completed in July 26, 2012?

Thanks. It showed in GCMS notes.

Arrived Canada on Work Permit May 2009
Granted Saskatchewan Nomination Feb 2011
Applied Buffalo May 2011 - Received June 2011
Received acknowledgment of receipt September 2011
Medicals received November 2011

Applied for gcms notes today via privacy act

Will keep you informed of progress (time to get notes etc.).

PS Thanks for help and encouragement from this forum

Further update: I also wrote updating some minor information and asking for re-assurance that my file had, indeed, been transferred. 6th Nov
Received a reply last night at 22:00 29th Nov. (computer experts - does that really mean someone was working late ? If so well done to them !)

Your file has been transferred from the former Visa Office in Buffalo to this office in Ottawa for processing and it represents only one of thousands of files that we need to integrate into our own workload and this process will take several months to realize fully. Nevertheless, we are actively reviewing files on an ongoing basis to ensure that priority be given to those clients whose files have been transferred from Buffalo and whose applications were submitted at an earlier date than those who have applied more recently to our Department. You can rest assured that we are making every effort to offer fair treatment to all our clients, on a first-come, first-served basis.

It also stated thet medicals would be extended to allow for processing. Great ! First time I've seen that in writing and it seems to be a general policy (looks like it to me, but what do I know !). So good news all round to those here.

Finally it gave some rough idea of the time-frame I might expect - weeks to months providing everything is in order.

Now I feel guilty for applying for gcms notes. Never mind - it was what I thought best at the time.

You can find you local MP at the following:

When you found his/her name, you should send a letter to their email describing your situation.
You can also give a call, but email if better for follow ups.

Case by case is different. some like me get response in 3 days, and some might have to wait for 2 weeks.
thats the norm. (1-2 week)

your letter can be either formal, or friendly.
they usually have a secretary taking care of the issue.

Thank you hmdlsd,
You've been so helpful.

Got an update from MP and they are saying that my file wont be processed before next fall. The waiting time is between 15-18 months time period due to the huge influx of Applicants...

Hi Sharuu
I really hope your MP is wrong, That's tough... and you're in the queue way ahead of most folk. And you've done so much for this forum.
I suspect/hope he asked the wrong question and got the timeline for a new application. (Please let it be so !)

As it may be relevant I'll copy a bit more of last night's e-mail from cpp-o.
You can rest assured that we are making every effort to offer fair treatment to all our clients, on a first-come, first-served basis.

and for my case, and I don't see why yours should be that different.
We will be reviewing your file in the next several weeks and anticipate that we should be in a position to finalize the file within the next several months

Don't know what several is, but it must be less than 15. BTW my notes still say "application received" June 11 and medical received Nov 11. and nothing else.

Best wishes MM_Sask

Well for starters, it has been 22 months for me already and I think the 15-18 month mentioned might be from July transfers. I hope to hear something soon but it doesnt look bright not does it!! Not too encouraging
