How do you know when they send your BG Checks?

Hey Sharuu, I know because I've been ordering GCMS notes almost every month, and all the changes in the new one should've been made in October. It changes the status of my security section to "In Progress ...", but I can't read the rest since it's mostly redacted.

Should I be expecting the PPR in 3-4 months then? How long have the BG checks taken recently?

I just hope coming from the wrong country doesn't delay the process even more... :'(

What is your complete timeline? According to my understanding, your BG checks are initiated when AOR is issued. I will be very surprised that your checks are started now. From my personal opinion, they have been received and are entered. In short, your file is moving forward. Is your eligibility passed? I wish I could predict your timeline, but if I were you I would be a very happy person shortly :) I dont think it should be long for you!

I believe you are a May transfer applicant .. I think you shall be hearing something real soon! When your security was passed, anything else changed? Any notes by VO and whats the due date? Eligibility being passed also signals that the checks have been done and entered.
Shouldnt be long buddy :)

Thanks Sharuu for your heartwarming words!

I applied in March 2011, received AOR and medical in September 2011, my case was transferred in May 2012, and the eligibility was passed in July 2012.
There was a note saying the medical should be extended when the security is done. However, there doesn't seem to be any due dates or even a group name. The "security screening" activity's status was changed to "S...." in October (redacted), which I believe is "Sent" or "Started". There's another status change to "In progress" made by SADMIN, which I guess is just automated.

The reason I guess they've just started the background check is this quote from Nima514:

Hi folks, today, I got an email from the office of the MP indicating that I have received a positive selection decision on Feb. 2012 but I also learned that after two years of submission my application to Buffalo and CIC has not even initiated BG checks on my application.
all for now.

This could be something Ottawa does which might be a bit different than what Buffalo used to do. Refer to page 30 of this thread, and look at the post by rsysha - thats what Buffalo VO used to say when your checks had been completed. If thats not in the notes as a comment by a VO then they might still be waiting for security to be done.

Did you contact MP anytime soon as it has been nearly 21 months for you?

Seems like everyone is getting their gcms except me >:( not getting ppr is bad enough, now no gcms ????? haven't yet got the one I applied for in september 12th ...I've sent them couple of inquiries but no reply >:(

Unfortunately, there's no new notes; neither by Ottawa nor by the secondary VO (Detroit).

I contacted my MP, and actually had her assistant follow up after they didn't reply for a month. The starting of the background check might or might not have been caused by that.

I'm going to contact Detroit and ask them again. If there's any useful information, I'll keep you guys posted.

Hi,
I think you should get married and bring you spouse under visit visa. Once you get your PR then she can get one easily after that

Hey,

I have been following this forum for a long time but I have never posted anything. But now I have question and would be really glad to get your opinion on it.

So here is my situation. I applied to buffalo for QSW in Jan 2011, medical done on 11-July-2011, went in processing on 18th April 2012 and transfer to ottawa on 7th July 2012.

I am planning on getting married coming dec to a non-pr/non-citizen and I am not sure if I am going to get the PR before the wedding. So do you guys think its better to hold off the wedding until I get the PR or should I still get married and then add the spouse on to my application? In the latter case any idea on how much more would my application would be delayed if I add my spouse?

Thanks a lot!!!

As far as I know, as long as you don't have your spouse's name included in your immigration application s/he can get a visit visa. Once included, s/he will not be issued a visit visa till all your immigration procedure is completed. In your case, it would be better to get married, get your wife here and once your immigration is finalized then apply for her. It won't take long for her to get immigration ( 7-9 months approximately)

Another wasteful Tuesday then. :(

All inland spousal applications average processing time is now 14 months. It has decreased from
19 months which is a good sign. Ur spouse can get a work permit once initial assessment is finished approx 8 to 9 monts. Kindly refer to cic for more details. Getting a TRV for wife might be easier once ur own PR is under process but they are other issues like wife has job, property, studying in home country etc......proving tht she will go back to her country and she is getting trv for temp visit.
