You can extend your work permit at the border, with your CSQ! :)

You need: Original (!) Job offer from your current employer with start/end date, salary etc.
Photocopy of your CSQ
Copy of Receipt that you have paid the PEQ Fees, and the AOR letter from that, just in case
150$ Cash ! (Border "Bernard Lacolle", 30min from Montreal)

That's the way how I got my permit extended. This Law is new.

Read > http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/immigrate-settle/students/stay-quebec/application-csq/students-quebec/after-csq.html

does it help?

this is extremely helpful.. thanks lepatissier07

it doesn't exactly say "PEQ", it says for Perm. Residency, i''m not that familiar with the PEQ Program, but it is meant for Perm. Residency, if I understood right. Read it through to make absolutely sure...we don't want to have nasty surprises at the last minute at the border!

just a quick question.. 2 weeks ago we saw a couple of Aug/Sept 2011 AOR's getting their PPR's and we got all excited... does anyone know if those guys were in the July transfer? or were they all in the May transfer?

@ lepatissier07

If I would not extend my WP with the same employer or do not have any more the job offer , does this give problem to the lading process if the WP expired before landing ( ex extend my stay as a visitor or under new work permit with new job )

thanx

well, that depends, if you you're from a visa exempt country (like me) than you can stay as a visitor without worries, even if your WP is expired. though you should pay a visit at the border regarding that. (Status change) And, you might have to inform CIC that you don't have an employer anymore...it could mean some new/more paperwork.

But/And, the WP extension only applies (as much as I know) if you keep the same employer! if you change employer, you will need a new LMO/CAQ, and you have to contact CIC that you changed employers.

I wouldn't make it too complicated. :)

ok? :)

Hey Sharuu,

Glad to see you are still keeping faith. You're an inspiration dude. My ECAS only went into IN PROCESS the day I received my PPR. It may be different in Seattle but just throwing it out there.

Hey Fennie..
Well, being down and depressed and losing faith just makes one more down, and more or less I see everyday something thanks me or looks for my advice so it keeps me going and helping others always makes you feel good :)

I am glad you are nearly there. Thanks for the kinds words!

Guys I am a May 2011 Applicant, Meds done in september and ECAS changed to 'In Process' in July.

Just got my GCMS notes with the following information:

Primary VO: CPP Ottawa
Secondary VO: Detriot
File transferred from Buffalo to CPP Ottawa: May 16th, 2012
Criminality: Passed
Eligibility: Passed
Medicals: Passed
RCMP: NRT

The notes section at the end says that meds will expire september 22nd, 2012 and extension may be required after background check is complete.
Seems like security check is still in process.

What do you guys think? How much longer till PPR???

- When were the notes printed?
- It seems that only background check is left, what is the next due date?
- When were the Notes made?
- If there is a due date under Application Assignment, thats when you should hear from them. If not, then I would say another month or 2, as all depends upon background checks.

So, it seems its taking 2 months from the time Buffalo receives your file to see an update from them. I think if your ECAS was In Process from Buffalo, then once they check your file they should be able to give PPR?

It has been 2 months for July 7th transfer applicants.. Hope to hear something soon! :)

As I mentioned earlier - medical extension is being granted! Good to see that..

Hey Sharru. Thanks for the response

- Towards the end of each page it says 'Date generated: 2012-08-08'
- It says the due date is 2012-08-19. Don't know why I haven't heard from them yet.
- The notes were written on July 20th, exactly the date when my application went 'in process'

the wait is quite depressing... I have friends who applied 6 months after me and have already received their PR cards!

I read somewhere, probably on the CIC website that extension for meds is only granted provided they are the last outstanding item for your application to be processed. Don't know if background checks are pending they would still grant extension.

Was your application already in process when it was transferred to ottawa?

I think you are in good shape and will hear something very soon. Your case is a good example for this forum and showing that Ottawa is actually working on transferred cases. Welcome to this forum and hang with us until you get the PPR.

2 May 07 transferred cases already got PPR. So I see you good chances having it soon.

Yes it was. The way you should look at it is this, you are nearly there and just stay positive. You know the status of your file and I believe they might extend your medical examination. It has already been 1 month since they reviewed your file, so hopefully within September you should hear something.
