I just want to share the email I got from Seattle to submit my passport:

On receipt of your passport(s), your permanent resident visa(s) will be valid until October 6, 2012 or your passport expiration date, whichever is shorter. Please note that this is the date on or before which you and all of your accompanying dependents must present your immigrant visa(s) to a Canadian immigration officer at a port-of-entry into Canada to become a permanent resident...

The immigrant visa placed in your passport has an expiry date. You may enter Canada any time before the expiry date. The expiry date cannot be extended. If you fail to enter Canada before this date and still wish to immigrate to Canada, you must reapply by submitting a new application and paying a new processing fee. There is no guarantee a future application would be successful.

They highlighted the line that expiry date of the visa cannot be extended. So, that's what I was thinking. Unless, files that were transferred to Ottawa will be given special consideration. Hope you get PPR soon!

I hope so too.. but it seems 2012 applicants are getting PPR. If you are a 2012 applicant, there are more chances of getting PPR than 2011 - just going by the way 2012 applicants are getting PPR. I am hoping its 2011 applicants should hear something soon...

@Sharuu
How do you know 2012 are getting Ottawa PPR?
And are they what categories - FSW/PNP/QSW/INVESTORS?

I read it, so as what I have understood, they will reassess your medical by MOF or HB staff. And if necessary, they might request a new additional medical information meaning you have to undergo to medical examination to make sure your medical is still the same as the first one?

After 15 months though.. The expiry of medical basically is the same as the expiry of your PR Visa. Just to extend the validity of the visa, asking another medical does not make sense thus they have the 3 month grace period! So, they should be issuing the PR Visa with an increased deadline.

Think it like this, due to Buffalo closing down it caused a delay in so many applications and most of them will have their medicals expired. If Ottawa requests all of them, it only is increasing their workload and just for increasing the validity of PR it does not also make sense!

Re: BUFFALO APPLICANTS - File transferred to other VO due to Buffalo closing dow

When files used to get transferred to US Consulates, they would give 3 months timeline. I wonder if the same is applicable over here or more?

Got a response from MP today. It was transferred to Ottawa on July 7, 2012.

Same date as yours, sharuu.

They haven't started processing it yet though. Hopefully they will soon.

Any idea when or did you ask MP about it? It seems a huge batch was received at Ottawa on July 7th. If it takes them 2 months then Sep 7th is our next date I guess. So, my idea of MP did give help eh? I hope you are more at peace now.

Oh ya I am much relieved now.

Your contacting MP idea was a huge help. Thanks for that!! ;)

I contacted MP last Friday and got the response today.

BTW the London Olympic made me stay away from the forum. :D

Constantly checking updates at work instead of checking the forum and ecas.
