Here is a discussion how to export pet dog from India:

http://www.indiamike.com/india/dogs-cats-and-langurs-f109/what-are-the-docs-required-from-the-indian-govt-to-export-my-pets-t92963/

This is Canada's requirement about importing pet dog:

http://www.inspection.gc.ca/animals/terrestrial-animals/imports/policies/live-animals/pet-imports/dogs/eng/1331876172009/1331876307796

You should also contact the relevant airlines with regards to their requirement too.

I know I have time. But if I get my PR approved, I would certainly need to transport my Persian Cat to Canada. Anyone has ideas about what are the proceedures, cost etc.,?

Once you landed and arrived at the airport, you would have to show your pet's papers (vaccination record, health certificate) to the custom. Then you can proceed to exit. Last time I brought my puppy and paid nothing (except the airline had to book in advance and paid at check-in counter).

Thank you @steaky

I am also worried about the 'transportation' itself. What I mean is, I read somewhere that airlines are not allowing us to take pets into the cabin (in India). I am super scared to move my pet as Cargo. He means a lot to us and he has some health issues as well.

Trying to find someone who can help with this tricky situation.

It's okay for pets to travel as a special baggage. It's ventilated. My puppy was also check-in as special baggage. But he's young and healthy. I think he was the only animal on board!

Consider yourself warned - if you are flying from overseas, many airlines will not transport pets. We moved from the UK last year and had a near impossible time figuring out how to get our cat physically across. We ended up hiring this company to handle it:

http://www.airpets.com/

and it went fantastically smoothly. It's not cheap.

Respected sir/madam,
I'm traveling to Canada for my higher education the next year from India, I wanted to have my pet with me there since there is no available for him to take care over here, I would like to know the approximate cost on how much it would cost me to have him there.

Hi there, I am in the same situation as you. Can you tell me what approach did you follow? I am worried about my dog since he is pretty old to travel in a cargo.
