Bring Thai Girlfriend To Canada

Hello.
I'm in need of some info about trying to bring my wife to be to Canada.
We met in October of 2015 via the Internet. We have spoken everyday on Facebook and on Skyle. Our relationship has progressed a lot of these past 7 months as to where we want to get married and start a family together.

I went over to visit her for a month in April. We travelled all through out Thailand and even went to visit her family. There I asked her mother for permission to marry her daughter and was given the green light to do so. I have every conversation and many many pictures of my trip to Thailand.

I plan on going back over in September for two weeks to visit her again. While there we were going to try and get her a visa to come visit me here in Canada. I have done a lot of reading on this forum the past couple of days and my mind is all over the place as to how to go about this.

Some info about her. She's never left Thailand before. She has a good job. Has lots of family which live in Thailand. So doesn't own a house or any land. She is 34 and I am 40 years of age. I plan on sponsoring her if need be. Myself, I have a great job which pays very well. I have some savings in my bank account. I don't own a house but do own two vehicles.

If anyone can give me some pointers that would be very much appreciated.

To sponsor her you will need to marry first, or live together continuously for at least 1 year.

TRV is hit or miss. I wouldn't rely on it, but apply nevertheless.

If you marry her when you return to Thailand have as much family there as possible and do follow traditional Thai marriage customs.

Keep all documentary evidence proving your relationship and submit your application once you marry. At that point in time you will have been in a relationship for nearly a year and will have visited twice and so I don't think you will have much issue with sponsorship.

I have thai wife and i'll give you my timeline to give you an idea.
We met in person (no internet contact before) in november 2014
I went back in february 2015 for 2 week
We got trv in march 2015 ( she has good job, own a house in thailand, good saving account to support, invitation letter from me)
She arrive in Canada in may 2015 and went back in august
I proposed in july (no ceremony, just private celebration between us)
Went to thailand and get married in august-september for 1 month.
We did civilian register marriage for certificate and then traditional thai wedding with about 70 guest from her side. Nobody from my family came to the wedding but they provided really good supporting letter for us.
According to my last gcms note the interviewed will be wave and everything is good ( no red flag) i'm 39 she's 37.

We were talking about getting the marriage certificate when I go to visit in September and then proceeding from there. Then I would return in January to have the traditional Thai wedding then. Unfortunately none of my family or friends will be able to attend. I would be able to get supporting letters from family and friends though.

So saying that, would it be ok to try and sponsor here after my September trip once we get the marriage certificate? Once we get that she will be getting an updated passport and ID card supporting her new surname.

Based on your experience what would be the next step I should take?
Our goal is for her to move her asap and start our live together. We both know this is a long process. We just want to go about it the right way so there aren't any red flags.

For your your family not attending the family, I thing it's not a big deal. It's not like getting married to an american women just across the border .

An example is myself and my wife. We did not have a traditional Javanese ceremony and only a private Islamic wedding with her family. However, we explained thoroughly in our application that the reasoning for that was because my wife's parents are deeply religious and view the traditional Javanese wedding as against Islamic beliefs and we therefore decided to for go the traditional wedding to respect their wishes. We also explained that my wife and I are not at all religious and that we considered eloping in Thailand to avoid me having to convert for the wedding but ultimately decided that having her family approve and attend was of more importance.

At only 4 months after the civil wedding to the Thai wedding you should just wait, although you could submit your application stating you will have traditional wedding at a later date. Since it is not a long time period between the two my advice is to wait.

Can we apply for a travel/tourist visa in the mean time?
I would like her to come to Canada for a visit between September and the wedding in January. Is this something that we can/should pursue?

You can apply for a TRV at any point in time.

My advice is to try your luck once you are legally married.

My wife and I didn't want to have a history of her trying to enter Canada before we were married.

This will add 4 months to your timeline, but without the traditional ceremony, the processing of your application may take longer, and your wife might be called for an interview. So in the long run, waiting until after the traditional ceremony may in fact result in her getting her PR visa more quickly.

She can apply for a TRV at any time, but it is difficult for applicants from Thailand to get one. From the sounds of it we should wait until we are married to apply for the PR then.
Does it hurt our chances of the PR if she applies for a TRVand she gets denied?
I just want her to be able to come here for a couple weeks before the wedding in January. Mostly so she can meet my family and friends.

I think once we get married in January we will try the TRV. I will do my best to explain the reason as its to visit my family and friends who will be putting together a little wedding ceremony for us.

What would be good idea is instead of going back to thailand, bring your girlfriend for 2 week holidays in Japan (thai citizen are 2 weeks visa exempt in Japan)

Actually when I was there in April she mentioned to me she wanted to go to Japan. I've never been so this is a good opportunity for us to go together. I won't have the time to do it in September but will in januarybas I'll be there for a month.
