hi guys

i have a question

1. my wp will expire on may 4 2013 got positive lmo last feb and already submitted now i receive my AOR can i cancel the first application and apply for a BOWP? or just continue the application?
Interesting. I am on the same boat my PGWP expires on May 2 2013. Got positive LMO and still deciding if I should extend my WP as a closed type or just go for the BOWP.

According to some members' comments if you send BOWP app now it'd likely be rejected since you have the WP extension/closed WP app ongoing. So if you are to apply for the BOWP you must first withdraw the closed WP application.

Re your concern if you should just "continue" the closed type with LMO, it really depends. Say if you wanna work 2 jobs at a time and earn more money/possibly changing your field in the next few months...etc the closed type WP will of course not the preferred one since it has no flexibility at all. BOWP on the other hand, gives you options.

I applied to extend my stay 1.5 months before the BOWP was announced (basically filled in the same form, except at that time, I needed the LMO. I did not realize that and sent in my online application together with my payment. Upon repeated inquiries and confirmation with three different agents, I then emailed a written request to cancel my application (email is sufficient, don't need to write in paper). They replied me within 3 days, and asked if I want to save my payment (which was for $150) for a future application. I knew I was going to apply for something, but just didn't know what at that point). I printed a copy of my receipt of that payment and also a copy of my email regarding the cancellation when I sent in my BOWP application.

Sent in by paper on January 7, and got it just this past Tuesday.

Hi shells,

So in your case the cancellation procedure took only 3-4 days with payment saved, am I right?

Thats pretty good since the CIC website states that once processing begun no refund will be considered. When did you file the cancellation/withdrawl for the extension application?

Also which email address you sent your withdrawl request to?

Thanks

Oh, and put in
"Withdrawal of an Online Application" in your Subject when you email them. They probably get tonnes of emails everyday.. anything to grab their attention faster is good ;D

Thanks for the replies shells. And now we know that withdrawal requests can be done by email (at least for an online app i should say).

You are welcome :)

just in case you didn't print out your receipt or you've lost it when you did the online payment last time, you know that you can retrieve it by logging into myCIC to print it off eh? I panicked when I thought I lost that.. and it wasn't till couple of days later that it struck me. I printed it off and mailed to them as part of my package for the BOWP application.

Hehe! It was a piece of cake lah! Phew!!

Btw.. one thing you may want to note (between asking for a refund or saving it for future payments). My initial payment was $150, but so was my BOWP payment - also $150 - same exact amount. If you need to top up, or your new application (whatever type it is) is going to be less, then there's more complications. Refund here, top up there, etc... is a bit of a hassle to me. You might be easier off asking for a clean refund that way and making a brand new payment later when you apply.

Good luck!

You need to have a valid WP expiring within 4 months. Refer to the link below for additional criteria.
