BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

I got a Bridging Open Work Permit a month ago.

Application of PR
May 22, 2012 Application received (under CEC)
Sep 20, 2012 AOR received
Jan 23, 2013 Medical requested
Jan 31, 2013 Medical done

In my case, it was sufficient to apply BOWP with AOR received.

Unfortunately, this doesn't clear things up. CIC appears to issue the medical request when the eligibility review has been passed (but it is not a "stage" that applicants are informed of). So this doesn't really provide the proof that the OP is seeking...

My previous work permit was scheduled to be expired on 1 March 2013.

Feb 14, 2013 Requested the offer of employment
Feb 15, 2013 Uploaded explanation letter (Why I don't need to provide the offer of employment)
Feb 28, 2013 No response from CIC office even though the normal processing time was passed
Feb 28, 2013 Made a phone call to CIC call centre
Agent told me my work permit was issued on Feb 25, 2013 and will be delivered
Feb 28, 2013 Found it was delivered (Issued: Feb 25, 2013, Valid until: Feb 25, 2014)

In my case, it was sufficient to apply BOWP with AOR received.

4 months used to be the norm... so those of you who get it in 2 months should feel lucky!!!

I know that it is pretty long time.
But, for May applicants in 2012, it is "kind of" normal, unfortunately. :'(

This is the kind of detailed response I was trying to get from a rude user above.

I'm trying to make things easy for you and help you avoid adding more ad-hoc rules and assumptions to the very well established, documented and official ones. The dates above will not apply to anyone but the specific applicant, the status of the applicant will not apply either and the really useful bit is what we already know: AOR is enough.

Typically swears, insults, mean language, etc. make someone rude. I guess explaining the process in the easiest manner should be added to the list. I won't be "rude" to you anymore.

Hey just one more qucik question: Whats your reason for not providing the employment letter? I am planning to send the BOWP app next month and if I am already employed and still working for the same employer since I graduated (PGWP) I think I dont have to provide the employment letter as well...right??

Wow, your timeline is quite similar with mine.

I couldn't get anything from CIC since my DMP sent the results of medical exam.
I am just waiting to hear something from CIC office as you guys are doing. ;D

Hope we can hear some positive news from CIC soon.

It was the simple reason.
I didn't have new offer of employment at that time.
My boss couldn't guarantee to extend my contract.

When I was asked to provide the offer letter,
I just appealed that it is not usually required (or it is not the mandatory) to provide offer of employment for applying an OPEN work permit, because an applicant is allowed to have different job anytime when he/she needs.

I am not sure my visa office accepted my argument or not.
But my WP was issued.

If you can get the offer of employment,
providing the requested document is the easiest way to avoid unnecessary problem. (I think)

Thats exactly what Im worrying about.

My PGWP expires May 2013. Wasnt aware of the BOWP until recently thus I was planning to go for the hard way - LMO and then work permit extension.

LMO app was sent couple weeks ago. No result yet but even if it comes back as a positive LMO I might rather just apply for the BOWP and forget about the WP extension (Closed type)...

1. my wp will expire on may 4 2013 got positive lmo last feb and already submitted now i receive my AOR can i cancel the first application and apply for a BOWP? or just continue the application?
