Applying for BOWP and SOWP.
PR applied in Sep 2014.

1st BOWP and SOWP applied in June 2015. Got it it October 2015. Valid till 17-Oct-2016.
Now applying for New BOWP and SOWP.

Question :
wife's medicals done on 11-Apr-2015, which got expired and we went for medical reassessment in July 2016.
Now in BOWP online application for spouse, for proof of medicals can i use the receipt of doctor from Apr 2015, as i don't any proof for July 2016 medical reassessment from doctor.
I only have medical reassessment email request.
Can i use this email and add it with first receipt of doctor from 2015 and also explain the same in explanation letter.

someone please help.

Hi Guys,
My work permit is expiring soon. I have an Engineering job which is full-time and "permanent". My PGWP is expiring in October 17, so I applied for an extension recently. I got refused. As per their letter, I need to have receipt of PR application to be eligible for BOWP. My nomination is taking long and I am freaking out.

Can I apply for a work-permit just with OINP AOR ? Where and How can I apply?I am getting conflicting answer in every forum. Can you someone please care educate me ?

Wait until the last few days of work permit expiration but have everything ready to go. If you do not nomination by then so go ahead apply for work permit extension paper based application. Remember few things - ask for same employer work permit , provide explanation letter - explaining your situation, your acknowledgment email from OINP, this way you have chances for receiving an extension.

How long does it usually take to receive BOWP in your mailbox? Also, do they send you an email/letter in your CIC account about BOWP or they just mail it to you? My BOWP & SOWP got approved today but I haven't received any correspondence from CIC yet.

You will receive a document in your My CIC account in a day.
Then the actual work permit will be mail to you

I did the exact same thing, but online. And I got rejected. I don't think I will apply again. It's pretty clear that CIC will not give BOWP based on AOR from OINP alone.

Well if you pay attention to what I said you might have chances. I did not say to apply for another BOWP , I specifically mentioned to request for Restricted work permit because that's what you get after being nominated but without AOR for CIC application.

Again, choice is yours. We can only give you our advise based on experiences and knowledge. Thanks!

Oh okay, my mistake. I misunderstood you. Is there a way to apply for Restricted work permit online? Do you have any more info on this? All i could found from reading the CIC website is that there are two ways of obtaining a work permit:
- Employer-specific work permit (LMIA)
- Open Work (BOWP)

I didn't know there are other streams/options

The reason I suggested for paper application is 1) there processing time is longer so you will be able to buy some time meanwhile may be you will receive nomination. 2) If you do receive you can send CSE and request visa officer to add the following document to your application

I know this is probably a repeat (for the 1000th time) but could someone please advise me about the BOWP/SOWP application

So I have applied for PR through CEC and its in progress, I have a CIC Acknowledgement of Receipt letter in My CIC account

My wife is here with me on a visitor visa that mirrors my Work Permit, which in itself is 'Closed' i.e. employer, location and trade

I am not really bothered about my BOWP being 'closed' I just want to fill the form out accurately once, hopefully allows the CIC agent to process it quickly without delay.

So I tried to apply directly online but the questionnaire stalls and gives an error saying the online service isn't available please try again. So I am forced to send a paper application....

Am I best to leave the employer and job offer sections blank? Should I include a LOE? what exactly should a LOE include?

Many thanks

Ben

I just received a BOWP & SOWP (40 days processing) so I'm gonna help you here.

BOWP is always an open work permit do you have to choose Open Work Permit in the application. You need to enclose the AOR. You can but don't have to include employer details. I wrote BOWP but also my employer info (I also have closed WP based on positive LMIA). But remember a BOWP is always open. And definitely apply online, paper application takes like 120 days, online took me exactly 40 days as per cic website.

That's great.....

I seem to be having difficulty with the online application as mentioned before.

So basically fill out all of the form inc employer details..... what about job offer/status letter?

One of the first questions is what are you applying for, so I guess I now click 'New WP with same employer'?

Where on the form did you write BOWP?

Sounds like your situation is similar to mine, Im here on a closed WP with +LMIA. Does your spouse work? mine only has a visitor record, any advice here would be gratefully received too!

Many thanks

Ben

PS I cant get the online application to work. I start the eligibility questionnaire and it tells me I may be eligible under the following routes etc etc, but when I click continue it says service unavailable! Did you use the apply for visa/WP button from you MY CIC account?
I can get through the questionnaire if I do it without login in, but when I log in I cant use the eligibility code as I encounter the same system error

Can I create a new CIC account and apply that way?

You're actually supposed to choose WP with a new employer (probably because it's an open WP) so technically you can work for whoever you want to once you get it. I even enclosed my job offer with the application.

You can write BOWP in the employer name column. So Employer name - BOWP - Your Current Employer. Since you have a closed WP and your employer is on your WP they'd know anyway. My spouse had a spousal WP (based on my closed WP) and she got another one as I got BOWP (technically speaking it's an extension).

The questionnaire will ask you if she's accompanying you to Canada and will give you an option to apply from 1 CIC account for a BOWP & SOWP together (you'll also pay the fees together).

I don't know what's wrong with the questionnaire but it's pretty common that it's choking. Try a different browser or clear your cache & history, alternatively use CCleaner to clear the *censored word* and try it again.
