Hubby was supposed to land dec 8 in vancouver and wasnt allowed to fly due to a very slightly torn passport. Im sooo upset! Told him he has to get a new passport, when he went for that, they told him he needs a new cedula first, when he went for the new cedula they told him he needs his and his mothers birth certificates because they miss spelled his maternal last name last time he renewed his cedula.... The wait for new birth certificates is a minimum week, and his new flight is tuesday, which means that a new passport by then is impossible... New flight goes quito to bogota, bogota to toronto, then to vancouver. He bought a passport cover and some crazy glue to try to stealthly fix the tiny tear down the spine. Please everyone, we need as much luck as possible, send us some prayerscand good energy please!

Who was it that wouldn't let him fly? Colombia Emmigration? If there was a problem with his passport, why didn't CIC say something about it BEFORE putting a Visa in it? I also don't understand him having to get a new cedula....they don't expire! Regardless of the problems, we are definitely sending our prayers your way!

Thanks. His cedula is invalid because he never got a new one when we married, it is perforated. He was unable to get the new one because of the name issue with his mother. He was denied his ticket when he checked in in quito, didnt even make it as far as immigration. Going to try one last attempt to get a new cedula and passport in sangolqui on monday, if not successful, he is going to try again with the old passport. We need luck at this point. Thanks for the well wishes, i have my fingers crossed.

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear this! Just remember that God does everything for a reason, and after waiting so long maybe he wanted him to be your little Christmas present; I will definitely be sending some prayers your way and hope that everything goes well the second time around. I've noticed that the airline agents in Colombia are usually very unco-operative... Especially Avianca, a couple times I've been a few minutes late for my flights (nothing major, only 5 minutes or so), I've had to get upset with them because they wouldn't let me board.. even though the flight was delayed anyways!(as is usually the case with Avianca) Anyways, all you can do now is look on the bright side, you have overcome every possible obstacle and will be with your hubby really soon! I am very excited as well as my husband will be flying next weekend :)

American Airlines fly direct to Cali (from Miami). I've done that route a few times.

You'll be there for La Feria. I was there 2 years ago and it was a blast. I then headed to the Carnaval de Negros y Blancos in Pasto afterwards. Quite a crazy 2 weeks.

yaaa but american is terrible, avianca also has a direct flight from miami and i like them wayyy more, anyways i have a pretty direct and quick flight with a little stop in bogota so it's ok...so long as there are no delays! i was there for the feria last year and had a BLAST, so i'm so excited to be there again for it! :D

Well we've had quite a bit of movement. The embassy received our payment for the police checks and a couple other documents by courier this morning. The police checks take 6-8 weeks to get to the embassy, so as long as they don't require an interview, we should have everything processed and finished by march. Our plan right now is to be home mid-april if all goes well. How is your hubby adapting to the snow?

Hope everyone has a great xmas!!!

Thanks. Yes I concur you are pretty close. I got a pretty good deal from AC. $2200 for the 2 of us from Bogota to Calgary, one way ticket is not much different from a Round trip ticket.
