hey everyone! hope you all had a great christmas and new years! we've finally heard some news!...we received our passport stamped with the visa yesterday!! ! i'm here in colombia now, but supposed to be leaving really soon, so we're just figuring out what our next plan is...but we couldn't be happier! thanks for all the support through this crazy process guys and best of luck to everyone still waiting...be patient! it's the best feeling ever when it's finally done! xoxo!

congratulation, you are waiting for this for a long time
the VO definitely took their sweet time to process your case
they even had your passport since the middle of last year
good luck with your travel and the relocation to Canada
if you want to avoid to go thru USA, (needs VISA) than
Lacsa/Taca has lower priced flights than Air Canada via San Salvador to Toronto

There are spreadsheets somewhere on this forum that have all those statistics...i'll see if i can find it for you.

Payment (COP 60,000) made to Risk Management Colombia SA on Dec 20, 2012

The embassy received our receipt for payment on the 21st of dec, so we're at the same place you are. They said it could take up to 8 weeks, so I'm not expecting to hear anything from the embassy until mid february. I think we're both getting close!

we just emailed the receipt both to the VO and Risk Management SA ---neither replied back.

We sent ours by courier, DHL. So we knew from the tracking number when they received it. We had emailed them asking if we could upload the receipt using their case specific enquiry system, or email it to them, and they said no, that we had to send it to them by mail or courier so they had the original receipt.

I believe that Risk Management Colombia is just the name the Canadian Embassy uses for banking purposes. I don't think its the name of the company that does the police checks. A year and a half ago when we applied for a tourist visa for my wife, we had to make a payment to the same Risk Managment Colombia for the visa application fee. It had nothing to do with background checks

I have a little concern, I was just asked for the Risk management payment and my ARC payment. they r both made and they should have received the receipts yesterday I know this by my tracking number. What I don't understand is if I had to do anything other than pay risk management as In send any paperwork or if just by my C.C they will be able to do a check on me. What I don't get is if this is the background check they ask for? Does any one have a clue?
