We just got an email from Bogota Visa Office requesting new medicals even though they expire next month. It's exciting to know they are working on the application.

hahahaha... What???

It seems our applications are developing identically!!! Mine would also expire in a month!!! That is awesome news!!!

I will surely keep you posted, sine I bet what happens to me will be your case, too... Or viceversa!

It was a long process because I lived in the States before and because of a failed refugee claim. I applied for the ARC on March 2012 and it got approved the same day the visa was issued. Three weeks ago I had to go for New xrays in order to have the medicals reassed ;D

My husband's application was received two and a half months ago at the Bogota office. I know that is not a lot of time, but I just wanted to make sure that we are only waiting on communication from the embassy for medicals and background check, and that there's not something else we should be doing. Hi everyone. Got a passport request 2 weeks ago and my Ecas file says decision made as of last friday. I t will be 2 weeks this thursday that they have received the passports. Any idea how long it will take to get them back????? My issue is that last monday and this monday was a holiday in Colombia which means they didnt work at the embassy. So if it takes like 10 business days do I not count the 2 mondays? (WHICH WOULD SUCK) Anyways need some insight we are now 16 months in so I've waited long enough I need some answers. HELP PLEASE

Hello Jennpenn,

don't worry. You've already come a long way to get desperate for just a couple of days. It is true there were two Monday holidays in a row, so that must be a reason why it has taken two weeks and now more. If your Ecas was updated to "Decision made" and you get you passport requested, come on, you are getting you visa delivered sooner than expected. Just have a little more patience.

Your process is been long. The top is 17 months so, any way or another, you are getting you visa in a matter of days.

Relax, breathe in deep and you'd better keep us posted and let us know as soon as you get it!

He got his passport today !!!!! So happy!!! Booked his flight he is landing on Monday in TO then a long drive to Montreal but it is so worth it!!!!! Super excited!!!!! Wish us a safe travel guys and I am wishing you all good luck with your files

I WENT TO MY INTERVIEW IN THE BOGOTA OFFICE ALL WENT THE OFFICER SAID I WAS APPROVED SHE TOLD ME THEY WOULD ASK FOR AN ARC BUT IT WOULDNT TAKE LONG BECAUSE I WAS UNDERAGE WHEN I ENTERED CANADA, THEY TOOK MY PASSPORT AND ASKED ME TO DO MY CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK ASAP AND SO I DID, THE CR CHECK TAKES ABOUT 6 TO 8 WEEKS AND IM AT 5. NOW I WAS ASKED FOR AN ARC BECAUSE OF MY FAILED REFUGEE CLAIM AND I HAVE THAT READY AND PAID FOR BUT I WAS WONDERING CAN I GO AHEAD AND SEND IT ARLEADY OR DO I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY ASK ME FOR IT ? it is simple. Send the ARC righ away. In that way, you can gain time. I simply think it is best to do it now than waiting until they ask you to. It shouldn't be wrong! In my case, I was asked first to send a copy of my militar card, which I did right away. A week later, I was asked to pay for my Criminal Record Check and then another week later I had to repeat only chest x-rays. All was sent immediately. I am now at week 7 since I sent the receipt for my Criminal Record Check. I hope to receive some news from next week on, since that document is what delays things because 8 weeks (I've heard it can be up to 11 weeks) is a lot of time. Nontheless, if all the rest they required is already sent, than some time can be gained.

Send it to the Bogota Office with your case info, but most importantly, don't forget your FILE APPLICATION NUMBER, which, when I received the AOR letter from the Visa Office in Bogotá, stated "you must quote this application number in any future corespondence."


Hope this can help you and please keep us updated on your case. It is interesting for me, since we had our application sent just 3 weeks later than you, but it took 3 months for my wife to be accepted as a sponsor. For you, I see it only took a month!

hello natalia i feel a relief seeing the post you made i am sponsoring my wife who lives in colombia and was denied refugee claim but enetered canada when she was under 18 i just filed my application a week ago and have been really thinking about what will happen since her family had a deportation order instead of a departure order also about the criminal record check is it for canada and can we ask for it now? before they ask us for it?

Hi everyone. So my case is similar to natalia's. I am sponsoring my husband though. We are in week 10 since we made the made the payment and we have no news yet(it can take up to 3 months..so 2 more left weeks hopefully). My husbands medicals have expired but we got an extension since his interview back in february and now we are just waiting for them to ask for his ARC. Does anyone know how can we make the payment for this? And what does he need? Im thinking we might do the same as natalia and go ahead and send it before they ask for it. Hopefully it helps..
