No i remember end of 2014 i suppose to applied for my citizenship but effective was exactly on 19 jun 2014 so I couldn't applied for my citizenship i never forget this day

The current 4/6 rule become effective on June 11th, 2015, So you could have applied under the old 3/4 rule at the end of 2014. I am sorry that you missed that.

Last 4/6 law got approved and effected in 2 bloody years.I dont think this one can be any quicker. 2018 i guess?

It is a different government and different time, how it was done in the past doesn't tell you anything about how it will be done this time... Anybody can guess ,either this fall, next year, or never... Doesn't mean anything

Additionally, Bill C-6 is not a comprehensive revamping of the Citizenship Act but is a fairly small piece of legislation drafted to fix a few specific problems largely rooted in bad law adopted as part of the comprehensive revision of citizenship law by Bill C-24. A few provisions are amended. Some specifically problematic provisions are repealed or removed. That is all. No major changes.

That said, how long it will take to reach final vote and adoption is a guess, this year most likely, perhaps in June but that's a guess. And how long before the 3/5 rule comes into force is a total unknown. Maybe this year, maybe next year. Could be longer but if not this year then by next year seems quite likely. Any guess more specific than that is worth no more than a whisper swept away by the wind.

Can anyone comment on this article I saw online (link below) that says that the conservatives in the Senate are vowing to fight bill C-6 and stop it from becoming law?

While I'm conversant with how the Senate and House work in the U.S., I don't know if they work equivalently in Canada. Meaning that every bill has to pass both the senate and house before it reaches the President's desk and he signs it into law (or vetoes it and it fails, but the house can override his veto with a 2/3 majority).

Ok thanks! let's hope for the best **keeps fingers crossed** ....I also religiously read through some of the posts on here, and it seems like if the Senate tries anything funny, Prime Minister Trudeau can easily fill the remaining 17 Senate seats and BAM ... all is settled!!

Nevertheless don't want to wait too long if processing times will increase as expected.

Will the 'Intent to reside' be removed as soon the bill receives Royal assent? And can we be sure that Royal assent will come in June?

Intent to reside will be removed at the Royal Assent, and it is realistic that the bill gets the Royal Assent in June. If I were you I would go ahead and apply.

WHAT?? this was the very day I got my landed and I was told that I could apply for citizenship in 2016...I later learned all that had changed, that was very disappointing to say the least. Under the 4/6 rule I have to now wait until 2018 to apply or hope the 3/5 allows me to apply sometime next year. God is able to all things. He makes the necessary changes that is best for us.

Well after passing the senate, its goes to the parlment, after that it will be finished hopefully in june this year
