Still a long ways to go. The potential vote today is only for the amendment. If accepted, then next week, the whole bill will be debated and hopefully voted on. I think it goes to the House of Commons after that. If HoC accepts the bill with the amendment then it gets royal ascent quickly. Otherwise, it will ping pong between the senate and HoC till they reach an agreement.

Also, we don't know how long it would take to schedule this bill in HoC. After it gets Royal Ascent, it needs to be implemented. No dates published on when that would happen. Only certain clauses in the amendment (revocation) may take 1 year to come into effect after getting Royal Ascent. I'm hoping the 3/5 year rule comes into effect much much sooner.

This is my understanding atleast. Feel free to correct me.

According to Senator Mobina Jaffer/s reply to a question on when C6 would likely become a law- she replies May/June. (so expecting anything earlier than that would be extremely optimistic).

Note: There is no speculation on when it would receive royal assent.
