Beginning in July, CBSA is supposed to be hooked into American border records, so they'll have a record of exits and entries. As with most government projects, though, I wouldn't doubt there will be a delay.

I suspect, given the quote that I provided in my previous post, that you will get an absolute rejection if you don't meet the Physical Residency. Looks like there is no longer any discretion available. MPs have no authority to change the rules, only to chase up applications.

Can you elaborate, where does it say that there is no longer any discretion available if you apply before July 19th?

I'm not referring to the period before the new residency requirement is enforced. I'm saying that once the requirements change, there will be no discretion to ignore failure to meet the physical presence test. No CJ to give anyone a free ride.

I am a permanent Resident through Provincial Nominee Program. I have landed Canada in July 2013 and spent 3 month there. I have got my PR card and then I came back to my homeland. I need to find out that how long can I stay out side Canada...

1. I know that a Permanent Resident is allowed to live outside Canada for 3 years within 5 years, but I want to know if it is applicable on PNP immigrants as well?

2. As per new policy of citizenship, Can I stay in my homeland for more than 6 months at once?

I will appreciate, of any of you answer my question with any authentic reference.

There is no change in 2/5 for the maintaining the PR status
You have long long way to go for the Citizenship. Many things in the law may change. As far as 6 months in each year, you will be affected when the new Law comes in to effect

An excellent question! And a good example of why some feel that the the Strengthening Canadian Citizenship Act (C-24) weakens Canadian citizenship.

I came to Canada to study in 2002 and got my PR status in early 2009. At the time I didn't apply for citizenship due to partially lazyness. Then I got a decent job offer back home in 2011 and I left Canada for almost 3 yrs (never thought I would be gone for this long...).

Now I am back in Canada and under this bill I will need to wait for another 4 yrs before I can apply. Oh my, if feels the previous 10 yrs I spent in Canada is going down the drain...

Got ya. You had to do what you had to do. Processing time should go faster now though, so you can think about it as 4+.5 instead of 3+1.5, both equal 4.5
