Beirut visa office renews the medical for another year if your application is still not done

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and my timeline is as follows:
Application Filed: January 2015
File Transfer: Apr 2015
Interview: Feb 2016
Med Request: Feb 2016

I like everybody else on this forum am very frustrated with the ongoing wait and the background verification responses we keep getting from this office. I think it is an absolute joke that background checks are taking longer than 12 months, and their processing time average is probably calculated with all the female applicants being approved in that time frame. I have read and researched enough to know that these wait times are ridiculous and unnecessary.

They aren’t realizing the toll its taking on families physically, emotionally, mentally and financially. I have been waiting 27 months now and I honestly am stunned that it has taking this long and I know so many people who have applied for the same family class sponsorship in that time frame who have been issued visas before my husband.
I think it is a great idea to go to Ottawa and protest, but I also suggest that we keep communicating our frustration in the meantime through the following:
- Filing a complaint through the CIC webform
- Emailing your MP (I understand people think this is useless, but at least its something)
- Ordering GCMS notes
- Email/Call the VO office
- Tweet @ CitImmCanada

I really just want a straightforward answer as to why it is taking this long, and I wish they weren’t so discreet. I have a lot of questions that I feel they don’t provide thorough answers for like
- Why can’t some of these of files be delegated to other offices if there is such a backlog?
- What was the time frame for the background checks that were done for the 25 000 + Syrians we accepted last year?
- Why does it take a whole year to open these applications?
- Why post a processing time that gives people false hope?
- How do you prioritize current applications and new applications?

Keep sending your emails and communication, maybe with the increased amount of communication traffic coming their way, they might speed things up a bit. It’s been too long a process for a lot of us.

Allah Kbeir and Inshallah we all here something soon. ;D

Where can we find the CIC complaint webform?

I agree. We all have to keep emailing and pushing them to actually do their jobs.

Hi seham,

The link for the cic web form is
secure.cic.gc.ca/feedback-retroaction/feedback-retroaction-eng.aspx

Also, I just wanted to mention that I think the whole theory that the more you contact the VO office, the longer the delay is not true. Whenever you search the ways to contact them regarding your status, they always advise to do it by email or through the web form. If they keep responding with the same generic response, we should keep emailing/complaining until a proper response is provided. Read up on any other VO thread on this site and you will see how unfair it is that we are waiting this long for our applications.

Here are some links to give you an insight into how much work has been delegated to the Beirut VO, the government admitting that the VO is understaffed and unorganized, and also how people aren’t getting proper replies through email, etc..

ww.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/audit/beirut.asp#key-princ

news.gc.ca/web/article-en.do?nid=1021909

ww.rstp.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Beirut-Visa-Office-Presentation.pdf

* include an extra W at the beginning, i had to write it this way to be able to post it.

We need to send in our complaints, because we have been silent for too long.

Protesting is the best solution my husband keeps emailing mp monthly all they say is that it's under security check . They can't do anything . It's Syrian refugees because they got their visas within 2 months of applying that means security checking is done while they're in canada it's a huge number more than 25000 and they're still taking more refugees plus Syrian families over there can sponsor other families to come to canada . I found a video on YouTube about the delays it says cbsa has other issues on their priority list such as terrorism criminaly inside Canada so our files processing is a minor issue for them . Our visas outstand a stamp it's all a stamp u guys think they go after an investigation file by file for every applicant that's not persuading at all . I'm wondering why refugees are in their priority list while waiting is consuming us and reuniting with our spouses is like a dream right now . There's something in common for all of us is that we did the interviews same time near February so we're getting our visas at the same time I think .

they doubt that the marriage is genuine and it's not a marriage of convenience so they give it longer time to finalize it .i noticed that men always take longer than women . Btw my medicals were done on feb 2015 and they didn't ask for new one .

Yeah thats why we had interviews..actually my interview was requested because they misplaced my application file..so in may 2016 i got an email to attend an interview..and the interview was very positive according to the officer, the officer said since they lost ur file it must take less time for u and u only have one more step which is security verifications..most guys are taking from 15 to 24 month..in December they said that old applicants who applied before December 2016 their applications should be finalized before December 2017..God knows if we have to wait till December ..
