Application was sent march 2013, was transferred around the same time as the rest from here.

You have the same timeline as me then.

hello guys, i have the same situation as you,
application received feb 2013
application forwarded to cpp mar 2013 (sponsor approval)
application forwarded to beirut sep 2013
and i am still waiting ??? ::)

when you guys received emails from cic ,Does the email on the top includes both names of you and your spouse and in the middle says EP

You are in the same boat as all of us. We have not heard back from Beirut.
It said in the email that they will not respond to any inquiries at the moment and if they need any documents, they will contact us and to be patient etc...

The last email my husband received (the applicant) was from CPP ottawa informing him about the application transfer.

I am not sure which email from CIC you are referring to.

Does any of you guys knows anything about the VISA validity period? and what to do if we want to have an extension for the expected validity period BEFORE the visa is issued?

well good news that i am not alone in this boat :P, on all emails i received they start the Letter with this refers to the name of me or my spouse and in the middle EP
so x EP y ,x is my name and y is my spouses name , so i dunno if it is normal or if i have to contact them about it,

As far as the couple of letters we got, it always refers to the applicant's name whose in this case my husband. The first couple of emails I received from CIC regarding the sponsorship application were sent to me as I am the sponsor and the last email my husband received regarding the transfer as he is the applicant.

They never referred to both of us at the same time.
Sponsor = X
Applicant =Y

It is always.

Dear X,
This refers to your application to sponsor a member of the family class you submitted to this office on behalf of Y.

or Dear Y,
This refers to your application as a member of the family class...

you might want to check with CIC

Chris, if by visa, you mean landing visa, the validity is usually limited by whichever comes first of the two following factors:
-validity of your medical exam (usually 1 year after exam date, with some extensions)
-validity of your passport

From what I gather once the visa is issued on the passport, you cannot change it, and if you cannot land in time, you have to reapply.
If you know you will not be able to land in due time and have valid reasons (pregnant women being unable to travel, etc..) you should notify the VO when they request your passport for the visa stamping. This may cause a delay in issuing the visa, and they may require additional documents in order to do so.

On a totally unrelated note, did anyone email CPP-O or Beirut to ask for information regarding the transfer and the status of the apps?

Yes. I have e-mailed both of them. No reply yet.

Candude do you think finishing university and doing final exams is a valid reason?

In my opinion, if it's not a life or death situation preventing you from landing within the planned expiry of your visa it's not worth asking.

The answer you'll get from most people is to just go land and come back. Even if only for 24 hours...

What about voluntarily doing another medical?

For the medical test, you would need to check with the VO when they contact you to stamp the visa...

BTW, I found someone posting a new thread, saying she applied in Lebanon and had her file transferred to CPP-O on September 9.
10 days before my file got transferred back to Beirut.
At this stage, I am assuming someone has a roulette table that they use to determine what is the next step to take for an application.

On another note, the processing times on the CIC website were updated on October 30.

21 months for Beirut (+3 month since last quarterly update)
15 months for CPP-Ottawa (+1 month since last quarterly update)

Candude, I dont think she said her application got transferred, She said forwarded which means I think she got her sponsorship approval and her application got forwarded to CPP-O which really proves the theory we discussed that CPP-O gets the files first, does some processing and then sends them to Beirut for further processing

Actually it is not a theory. It is what a CIC agent told me over the phone.
I hope that we will be the ones to reduce the processing times on the website :)

To comment on this the last update from CIC showed 20 months for Beirut so only +1 since last update same as Ottawa. Other locations for example Singapore +2 months were added to the processing times. I just chose Singapore because I have a friend whose application is getting processed there. They seem to always add 1 or 2 months to the processing every quarter. As for Beirut it went from 17 to 19 then to 20 and now 21
