I am new to this forum but was hoping for some enlightenment from others! BC pnp application was sent in today by large company in BC that is hopefully soon to be my new employer.
Has anyone been through this recently and if so can you give me an idea of how long it took for pnp approval? I am keen to book my flights. I have been told I can enter Canada to work once this has been issued while waiting for the PR application to be approved.
Many thanks!

Congratulations! The approval process usually takes between 4-8 weeks. I got mine in 6 weeks.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply! Did you apply for yours from outside Canada? If so do you know if it is correct that once the pn certificate has been issued I will be able to show that on arrival to get a work visas issued? After all this I dont want problems with immigration at the airport ;-)

I was already in Canada when I had applied for the nomination. Sorry, I may not be of much help regarding the work visa upon arrival. Hopefully someone on this forum who's gone through this process can throw some light and guide you through.

Once you get approved (in my case it took 10 weeks), they will issue you a Work Permit Extension Support Letter (by email)

The nominaton certificate comes with Express Mail.

You will show the Work Permit Extension Letter and the nomination, also the letter from your employer that he offers you a permanent job, to the immigration officer at the arrival airport in Canada.
He/she will issue you a work permit for two years (150$)

I hope I could help you.

I've got my BC PNP nomination by snail mail in almost two months. The decision, as I see in the letter of acceptance, has been made in the middle of Feb'13 (42 days after applying), but the envelope has been stamped by Canada Post 3rd of March only. There was no e-mail confirmation despite my e-mail was listed in the application.

I'm outside of Canada.

You should take into consideration you will have to wait some time to get your work visa after applying for it, using the Support Letter from BC PNP. So overall period "Application-Visa stamped" will be around 3 months.

Everyone has own unique way to Canada. A bit of luck and keeping knocking in the closed door will bring a result. Soon or later.

I found my job on careeraim.com and was lucky that the employer will do all the visa work for me. Good luck with the job hunt!

Already here
I've been trhrough this processs and am in Canada already, the work permit support letter allows the CIC border agent to issue a working visa for 1-3 years based on the letter of support from the BC PNP office. The length of time it's issued for is entirely down to the discretion of the border agent. Friends of mine got 2 years, others 1 year, noone got 3 years. You can come and start your job as soon as you get accepted by the BC PNP. I'd advise applying for Permanent Residency straight away though as your working visa is tied to your new employer.

If you have other specific questions I'd say ring the BCPNP, they're very pleasant to deal with and are very helpful when it comes to answering queries.

Good luck with your application

Edit: Of course you can also apply for the permit online through the CIC website, but if you arrive at the border you can do it immediately and get working

Can I ask how long it took for your pnp nomination to come through from time of submission? Also if you received it via post or email or both?

Many thanks!

I think it took about 11 weeks altogether. My friends applied at around the same time one lot took 13 weeks the other 10 weeks. You get an email acknowledging recepit of the application, we recieved our letter of acceptance through the mail.

If it gets past the 12 weeks processing time I'd give them a ring to ask how it's going

I sent in my application today directly to vancouver (I live nearby), the guy told me it would take 3 weeks to get an email and my money would then be taken and my ID issued via email, after that it could take 12 weeks to arrive, but is this 12 weeks max or minimum? im currently here on IEC and my visa runs out end of july 2013, I realise im pushed for time a bit but should I get it or will i end up having to leave before its sent to me? all the documents have my current canadian address on them, any help would be greatly appreciated thanks very much
