Sohpiee, this transfer letter does exist. If you dont' receive it, call CIC. I did receive it and showed it to MSP. My spouse has MSP within one day.

I got an answer to our appeal. In sort:
"We require confirmation that your spouse's Permanent Resident Application is 'In Process'."
They ask a letter about the transfer, which I already told them that doesn't exist.
Any idea?

hi eleventhirtyfour, go find this letter. I've called MSP over 50 times and nailed the MSP for my spouse with this letter.
We've received this letter way back in march but nobody told us this could be used to have MSP coverage.
If you lose this letter, well that's just too bad...

I'm glad that worked for you... The copy of that letter is somewhere... but we do both (sponsor/applicant) have unique UCI's. Or did you have to send them a copy of that letter? I can't believe that I'm going to have to ask for a copy of that form letter from CIC, but I will try it if people think it will work.

I called CIC, they received my app in January in Vegreville, the problem is that they haven't opened it there, they sent it over Miss without doing anything with it in Vegreville. According to the call centre, that's the reason why I can't have that that transfer letter. If you were supposed to get it, they can send you a copy, but if you should have not received it in the first place, than they can't do anything.
Hopefully the inquire our MP made will do the magic.

Did MSP say anything about the letter not being dated? I heard somebody sent the transfer letter but MSP didn't accept it because it wasn't dated.

Yes, they do not like that the transfer letter is not dated and will attempt to use that as a reason not to approve. If you insist they will approve. A person may need to continue calling until you speak with a supervisor to resolve.

I know this letter is not dated. In my case, they did not raise any concern... My wife got MSP in the next day.

Hi!

I just gathered the so many supporting documents so I could be added to my hubby's MSP. To be honest, I *panicked* after reading this thread. I had no idea the application could be a frustrating battle to get what's rightfully ours. They should at least honour the laws that they created.

Errr.. What transfer letter are you guys talking about? The only letter we got from CIC was for sponsorship approval..

How soon will I get a response from them? Or are they like the CIC? Lol

You are on an outland application. The transfer letter was for inland applications moved from CPC-V (Vegreville, AB) to CPC-M (Mississauga, ON) and was a one-time event.

We got an answer from the Ministry of Health. Actually we got it a couple weeks ago, but our MLA was too busy to forward the email (her words - no comment). They agree with HIBC, I would need something that shows that my application is in process, the "pending a first stage of approval" is not the same and is not enough, so according to them I'm not eligible. There is nothing more we could possibly do with them.
We have an ongoing case with the ombudsperson, we called them today to find out that they have a 5 months backlog, so we can expect someone to work on our file around February.
That's the end of the story.
What's really makes me mad is that everyone before us have the transfer letter, so they are okay, and everyone after us have the "started processing..." line in eCAS, so they are also good. Most of the January-February applicants are screwed.

My hubby is about to do his medical exam. Does anyone know who the best/cheapest examiner is for the greater Vancouver/Fraser Valley area is?

I know that there is a list on the CIC website with the approved examiners, just wondering who's the best to go with.

Thanks!

I did mine at Dr. Cheryl Anderson's clinic and it was okay. I called three or four clinic that was close to me and she was the cheapest although I don't remember the exact price and it was almost a year ago...
I'd suggest to call a couple in your area, the prices vary a lot, and some has longer waiting time.

Has anyone renewed their BC MSP yet?

My card has an expiry date of 31 Dec and I'm reallllly hoping that I don't have to re-apply and go through all that red tape again to continue my coverage!

BTW, I'm one that was able to get coverage based on the CIC transfer letter back in March.

Anyone?

We're on virtually the same timeline as you with the same answers. An Ombudsperson investigator called us back last week and told us our complaint has been added in with several other similar complaints and will be investigated as a systemic issue, which means it will take longer.
