Hi
Curious to how much money/proof of income the sponsoring spouse has to show for a common law application?
If I have proof of money (say 10 000cad) and is applying for a work permit through the application, does he need to show that he
can support me? My bf has been working part time/2 days a week for the past 8 months so doesnt have any savings atm..

Website says for sponsor: "prove that you have sufficient income to provide basic requirements for your spouse or common-law partner’s dependent children. To do this, you must provide documents showing your financial resources for the past 12 months. This requirement applies only when dependent children who have dependent children of their own are included on the application."

Yes you can show proof of savings (even if it's yours). The important thing is to explain how you both will support yourselves and back that up with some proof.

Show NoA or Option C to prove you're not in receipt of social assistance. Show pay stubs or employment contracts. This is really what the sponsor needs.

There is no low income cutoff for spousal sponsorships. Therefore showing some financial means is enough...
