Hello,

Are you a Bangladeshi applicant for the study permit and TRV? If I am not the only one, may be we can help each other out on here.

I have applied for MASc courses at Ryerson and Carleton. Got an offer from Ryerson (For MEng). For Carleton, my application is under review by the department.

Even not yet applied. Writing the SOP (I am in real problem with this!) Paid the application Fee and going to complete the application process as soon as SOP is done.

How long did it take to come to the status of "under review"?

How long did it take to come to the status of "under review"?

Have you checked their application deadline for your course? What SOP? For the visa or for the university?

I think it took something like a month or so for the status to switch from "Preliminary review required" to "Under review by the department".

You misunderstood. I just wanted to double check with others. I went to VFS in Gulshan and they gave me the link you just gave me. Thanks anyway.

Can someone please confirm this:

I went to VFS (the VAC) and they told me that I won't have to submit any original document. They said that I will have to submit notarized copies. Have you guys been told the same thing? This is a bit odd to me as I am used to the UK immigration which requires me to send the actual documents for immigration purposes.

I provided the original police certificate. mind you it will be both BD and UK for u. Bank statements: I provided original. Only education certificates and transcripts of past study were notarized copies. Birth certificate: provide photocopy.
Unlike UK, Canada embassy won't return yr documents (unless you specifically request for them to be returned and provide a photocopy for them to keep).

I am trying to obtain a police certificate from the UK. How did you get one for BD? Do you remember how long it took you? I am applying for a machine readable passport as we speak. So, won't be able to apply for anything until my new passport arrives. I don't need the police certificates so it makes sense if I just give them the originals. Of course I will keep a photocopy of them before I send them.

As far as i understand, You will need to submit the paper application in the "Thana" of yr locality.

It takes no more than a month to obtain the police certificate.

I am a bit confused about the visa application. There is the Study Permit and the TRV. I am supposed to apply for both now, right? How does this work for Bangladeshis? Will really appreciate someone explaining this to me.

As Bangladeshi we need the TRV to be able to enter Canada (since we are not a visa exempt country). the study permit is a permission to study in Canada and everyone will need it, such as americans.

You do not need to apply for the TRV separately. When yr study permit application is approved (Insha Allah) a TRV will be given to u as well.
