Does anybody have any idea of how long this suspension will last and what decision they'll most likely make regarding the program? Come on, they'd have to be really crazy to scrap the program altogether. It's one thing to put more restrictions on the program and fix all the cracks in the system. However, it's another thing to make everyone, including businesses suffer. They're shooting themselves in the foot if they're planning to cut the program entirely.

How much money is the overall economy losing on this moratorium (on the first day nonetheless)? How many restaurants just wasted money on LMO processing fees? How many businesses are now planning to cut hours due to understaffing? How many businesses are now preparing to inevitably close down, laying off both their TFWs and Canadian citizens in the process? How much tax revenue is the government losing because of this really dumb and stupid move of Kenney's?

All businesses aside, what the hell does Kenney think about the action that his dumbass policy is having on foreign workers themselves. Some of us made huge preparations to leave our countries to go to Canada only to have this moratorium strike us out of the blue. Thanks Kenney for totally screwing me over on a whim. I doubt that I'm the only one who got totally hosed by his unnecessary ban. Just because we're born outside Canada, it doesn't mean that we're unhuman objects. "FOREIGN IMPORTS" is the term they use to refer to us. Is that all they see us as; cheap, inanimate objects that can be tossed aside on a whim? Thank you Canada for making me feel like a crummy, broken object. I used to think that you all were tolerant and progressive but apparently, I was wrong.

am applied in house keeping for an LMO last month. is this news will affect my process. is house keeping in hotel is coming under food service industry too? please answer me....

No, you're not affected. At least not yet.

Hi StopDa,
I totally understand the amount of pain your going thru. Even I was surprised by the move. I thought they would make changes in the rules but not suspend fast food category temporarily. In fact, the last yr move of suspending A-LMO was also surprise. One company does it and every one gets effected.

I hope and wish this moratorium is temporary and everything comes back to normal.

Well, I suppose that I have to keep my options open now despite the fact that my life sucks so hard right now (and has sucked for the past 16 months). This job was my last hope, it miraculously came through and then it all came crashing down. I really hope that this lard-ass Kenney realizes his mistake when he shows up to a fast food restaurant only to get really crummy service due to the understaffing he caused. According to wikipedia, he lives in Calgary, one of the places that's going to be most affected by this. Even if a restaurant is managing to get by despite this nonsense, they should still refuse to serve him and instead direct him to the nearest grocery store to buy some Slim-Fast.

Pretty certain that no new OR renewed LMOs are going to happen until they lift the suspension.

As of now - no, it won't be possible. But I think it's reasonable to expect the program will reopen at some point.

Jason Kenney really deserves a beatdown (figuratively speaking of course) for making the innocent suffer for the guilty with such a draconian move.

Kennedy is reacting to the heat applied by the opposition parties whose supporters want a termination of the program. They feel the TFW program is a pro-business program supported by the conservatives to stiff canadians out of a job.

Does Tim Hortons count as Food industrie? What about people that are asking for LMO to work there?
