Sorry I should have clarified.

Seeing as Canada allows dual intent, I am hoping to go over on the working holiday whilst waiting for PR. Just waiting for the working holiday to come back, should take about 2 more weeks. It is a program for 30 old and under.

I was initially thinking of doing that when I thought I was going to move to Canada earlier. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think it is valid for two years (working for one?) I had already applied before sending in my application, so is only valid until Feb 27th 2013. (one year from applying). It got sent to me quite fast though, and the process was not too time consuming. The most time-consuming part was sending in traffic history from QLD. (if you lived in Vic or Qld after turning 18, you need to supply Traffic History - and that goes for the Spousal Sponsorship application too).

yup, my boyfriend came here on working holiday visa it was really simple and no problems at the airport coming through customs. his visa is valid for 2 years, we have 1 year left before it expires now, but hopefully his PPR will come through before then. If not I have heard that it's very easy to re-new it for longer. My bf has a few aussie mates here that are on their 2nd and 3rd round of working holiday visa, so it's do-able.

agree with @bagelbagel regarding the driver's history form victoria, took AGES!

good luck!

Yeah, my partner's on her second holiday visa - you can reapply for a new one once there's less than 12 weeks left on one (they also require a Australian police check-which can now be requested online!). When she needed to switch over to the new visa we just drove across to the states and back the same day. Good for 2 years, although I've never read anything about a 1 year working limit??

Did you both arrive in Canada together, and did you have anything shipped home? We will be sending a container across the ocean and will have to declare those items to the border services officer. If it is all in my wife's name I've read it should be ok. I think that part is worrying me the most, what they will say when they see I am on a working holiday visa and my wife is moving back home with "her" belongings...

If you have already applied for PR and paid, I think you can just be honest and say you are in the process of waiting for your PR. (Show them the receipt etc.) I don't think that should be an issue as some other members on this forum are "landing" before they actually received PR.

@matthew_fitzy :
we did arrive together, we had been living in the UK and arrived here together, it was a very smooth process at customs surprisingly. we went up to the customs agent together, hardly said anything to me, looked at my boyfriend's paperwork then sent us to another room where they did some stuff on the computer, printed his work permit and welcomed him to Canada. they asked where we were coming from and were we going to be staying in Canada now, we both said yes.... at that time we hadn't applied for his PR yet, so we didn't mention it.

I don't think it would be a problem having your stuff going through customs in your wife's name, essentially i was "returning home" and my boyfriend was coming for a 2 year working holiday and that was not a problem at all.

good luck!!!

the processing time for Sydney has been increased to 8 months now... so Canstralian/Oznadian, maybe we need to wait a lil longer...

i read somewhere that they replied emails pretty fast but it's been a week since I sent them the email about my new passport, and they haven't replied yet. my police check in singapore has just started to process - so it would be at least 3 weeks for them to reach Sydney VO... i think i have at least 1-2 more months till i can see "in process"...

on a possitive note, i finally know when i can become official Australian and would be able to apply for passport after that - which is early November. so my trip in December should be fine, yay!

Hi Minniejungle, I just want to ask you how did the request for the Singapore Police check came, was it thru standard mail or an attachment to an e-mail? Since when did you get?Did you have to make a request? I also need one as I lived in Singapore for 6 years. My file was transferred to Sydney VO on July 23,2012 and have not heard a word since. Thank you.

I just logged in to E-cas:

We received your application for permanent residence on July 5, 2012.

Medical results have been received.

I guess I will update the ss!!

Just got my AOR today. No mention of sponsorship approval yet though.

Just got home to a lovely surprise. Sponsor approval dated Sept 12 in the mailbox.
It came from Ottawa.

Good stuff Rachiy!

Is it showing in the system for you too?

It sure is! I can now log in with both my partners and my own UCI's which is awesome as I have heard how fickle Ecas can be for others.

Had to have a couple of wines to celebrate...

@ matthew_fitzy, I have added you in to the spreadsheet for Sydney applicants. Let me know when your app is received by CIC so I can add the date. You can check out the spreadsheet in my signature, I am tracking all of the Sydney 2012 applicants that I can find on this forum, so let me know if there are any more in September once you guys get a spreadsheet up and running.

Also to anyone else, if you notice applicants in other threads also going through Sydney that have an update which I missed (and don't try and deny that your not also watching every other Sydney applicant on here!!) then let me know. I am getting a little bogged down with the final semester of my degree and may have missed a few things.

Will do! ;)
