Thats Pretty quick. It was approved in about 40 days. So you were basically extending your existing work permit?
This permit is not an extension. I was on a PGWP and I applied for this permit, I got it within a month. The time it takes mostly depends on your case history, i think. From what i've noticed, people who are already on wp of any sort, get this permit really fast however, people who are applying for wp for the first time, see significant delays. Some people get PR before the permit.

Dear Team,

I have a matter that I would appreciate your advice on.

I have submitted a spousal sponsorship application for Canada with the following details:

  • Application Submitted: September 11, 2024
  • Principal Applicant Status: Visitor Visa
  • Sponsor: Canadian Citizen
  • Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR): October 27, 2024
I received the AOR on October 27, 2024, and I am now planning to apply for a Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP). Once I log in to or create my IRCC secure account, I will need to answer a few questions to obtain a personalized document checklist. One of the questions is whether I have completed a medical examination. They have also provided a list of designated physicians for this purpose (https://secure.cic.gc.ca/PanelPhysicianMedecinDesigne/en/Home).

My question is: should I complete the medical exam and submit the results with my SOWP application, or is it advisable to submit the SOWP application first and wait for IRCC to request the medical exam? Would waiting for the request potentially delay the processing of my SOWP application?

Any advice or guidance you could provide would be greatly appreciated as I move forward with my application.

Best regards.
