Another question.....

Not sure if anybody knows the answer but when I applied in August, the processing time was 7 months. I'm in the 7th month and today I saw that the processing time is changed to 9 months. Is this for new applications or does it mean that my application processing time might take 9 months now (2 extra months)?

I know they say it's the average time to process an application and that it's case by case, but based on your observations, have the applications that are already in process been affected?

Thanks again

That’s a good question! I’m in the same situation: estimated processing time of 6 months when application submitted, but now processing time is 9 months.

I think that, technically, the estimated processing time is based solely on when you submitted the application, not on subsequent changes to that time. The website where you check the processing times specifically states that “This processing time is how long we expect it will take us to process an application if we receive it today.” Also, this post agrees that increased processing times do not apply retroactively:

However, I wouldn’t be surprised if applications that were submitted months ago are also being affected by the same factors that are now causing processing times to get longer, such as an increase in applications and/or staff reductions at IRCC:

This is very helpful information but too bad they're cutting the number of the staff. Fingers and toes crossed for all of us to hear back from them soon.
