1. Most applicants who are in Canada, will be asked for a RCMP PCC later in the process. It will depend on how long have you lived in Canada for. The instructions are available at https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/medical-police/police-certificates/how/canada.html

2. The progress bar will show up in 1-4 weeks, depends on when your application meets R10. The 6 months processing time starts from the day when the R10 is done and not AoR.

3. Biometrics is not a part of immigration law as such, it was recently added as a requirement in the IRPA. It is required, but the processing does not stop. Your application will continue to progress, but can only be approved after biometrics are on file.

For latest instructions on biometrics see https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/biometrics.html

Hi are your sure about this, I am also in Canada and in my ITA application they never mentioned about PCC from Canada (only from my home country) would it be better if we get Canada PCC done upfront?

You can search the forum on this. Most applicants who are in Canada are requested RCMP PCC later in the process. It is not required upfront and that is why you do not see it in your MyCIC account.

Thanks @legalfalcon. Regarding RCMP PCC, can we do it upfront or we have to wait for instructions from IRCC?
It us entirely your choice. If you do it upfront, you save 2-3 weeks of processing. Alternatively, you can wait for IRCC to request your RCMP PCC and then you can get it done and upload it.

Hope all the best for everyone here.
Just have one question. How should we provide the biometrics as all such offices are not in service?

Tks

4. I have received Biometrics Instructions Letter (BIL), but all IRCC offices in Canada or in my country are closed, and I am unlikely to comply with the 30 days time frame to provide the biometrics.
IRCC has informed that the biometric instruction letter (BIL) cannot be amended and IRCC will continue to advise applicants that they have 30 days from the date of the letter to give their biometrics. However, in the most recent program delivery update IRCC has informed that if the site closest to you is closed, IRCC will automatically extend your biometrics deadline to give your biometrics. You do not have to give your biometrics until the sites reopen. This applies to you, even if your biometrics instruction letter (BIL) says you have 30 or 90 days.

Also, you don’t have to contact IRCC for this extension, and you don’t need a new BIL to make another appointment when sites reopen. You can bring your original BIL to your new appointment to show proof of payment, even if time frame mentioned on BIL is expired. To keep updated on the most recent updates in BIL see here.

Thanks @legalfalcon. The RCMP PCC is valid for six months, isn't it? I plan to get it after my medical is passed.

Any PCC that you submit should not be more than 6 months old on the date you file your application or submit the PCC. If it expires after you have submitted, it does not matter. Although, IRCC can ask for additional documents at their discretion, but as long as the documents you submitted were valid at the time of submission, you are good. Also, you do not need to submit new documents if they expire.

It does not matter whether the person is in Canada or outside Canada. When you present yourself to the panel physician, inform him that you need medicals for PR.

Excessive Demand Exempt (EDE), all PR applicants need a NON EDE.
Thanks a lot Legalfalcon.
One more question, do we need to certify transcripts even if they are in English? Little confused here.

@legalfalcon hi,
What happens between AOR and bio metrics request?
Is there any process in the background? Do they check on us like with the bank or employer or with the police?
At what point our case gets assigned to a case officer? And when should we ask for the visa office location dealing our case?
