August 2019 - Citizenship Applicants

I applied in August 2019, got DM on Feb 22nd. Scarborough office.
Didn't think it's necessary to order GCMS notes... Because severy time I called IRCC they told me my status is "ready for ceremony " and I should be "getting oath invite very soon". Until today the lady gently told me they are randomly selecting people for virtual oath and I may have to wait for the in-person one...

I really hope she was making a joke... anyone was told the same by IRCC?

She’s not incorrect because the website now says:

“We’re now inviting some applicants to attend a video oath ceremony (citizenship ceremony). Please wait for us to contact you.” (Source: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...services/coronavirus-covid19/citizenship.html)

Did she say when the in-person oath will resume?
Although, they do say it’s for “some people” and “COVID has slowed everything down”. We don’t know why others are getting but it depends on each individual and they got “lucky”!

I called IRCC too today and the lady basically told me that she's not even gonna bother opening my file if I'm waiting for oath,the reason she gave was that before the officers used to put notes on the file if they were gonna invite someone for oath but for virtual oaths they don't put any notes and it is totally upto the officer to put my file forward for virtual oath and she said eventually everyone waiting for oath are bound to get it but she cant give me any timeline so just wait and when the officer gets to my file, they'll put it forward. And I did ordered GCMS note which says my file's location is Surrey ceremony ready since march

What difference does the GCMS notes make? Won’t it have the same information as the Application Status notes online? Dad, me and minor sister still without oath invites. (Mom is a citizen already) Planning on giving them a call on Monday.

no. AOR is issued before you get online access.

I got a request for fingerprints today after my file has been stuck "in process" since I did the test and interview back in January 2020. I know it's a good sign that something is moving in my file but I was wondering:

- if other applicants got an FP request AFTER their interview, and
- if you should be seeing an update on eCAS saying FP has been requested

My office is in Montreal.

Update: Just received the Virtual Oath Invitation by email for Oath on Sep 9th at 1 PM Scarborough Office.

I dont know why they cant do testing with social distancing, less people testing is better than none...
