Been in Canada as a visitor for 16 months, you are right I only applied for PR in August, it took us a few months after we were married to get all the paperwork done.

Where did you try to volunteer? If you find a place that is non-profit and has a volunteer program you might be able to volunteer. Google that for your city and see what comes up. You can also find a immigrant settlement office and they can direct you also.

You are so right!! I'm very lucky I get to be in Canada while my app is processed, like I said I'm not in a hurry to get PR but I would like to start working again as I miss it.

I tried at Habitat for Humanity, it's ok as we've been so busy traveling for his work and family I haven't had time to volunteer but when we are home it gets a bit mundane. Working outside the house makes me feel like I'm part of society, I just want to work and pay taxes here!!

I agree with you 100% about wanting to work. I have always been an independent person and have always taken care of myself. It's been an adjustment not having that for so long. It's just how it is and I am very grateful to be here and have the life I have. It will be so nice to have a job, (something for myself) meet new people and be social again. I am a people person and being around others kind of feeds my soul & makes me happy.

I joined this social group through meetup.com and that has helped a bit. You can go to that site and find groups on your area. The group I belong to has things like, book clubs, coffee get togethers, game nights..etc I have met some great people through it. I don't go to everything, but it's just nice to get out and be around people.

I love being apart of this forum, has been a great experience. I wish that we could all get on each others Facebook. Lol I have met some great people here.

Hi All,

PR application status went in "In process" today. :D
 
Received a request for documents today from Ottawa. They are asking for my Quebec Selection Certificate. I am a bit surprised they are asking for this via email (and not hardcopy original). I thought that this was one of the documents that had to be hardcopy. Quote from the email I received:

"Please quote your complete application number on your correspondence and send your correspondence to CPC-Ottawa at the e-mail address indicated below."

The email doesn't even contain a physical address.. And on the CPC-O website, under FAQ, it says:

Scan and e-mail documents (other than police certificates) to: CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca

Send original Police Certificates to:

Case Processing Centre – Ottawa
219 Laurier Avenue West, 7th floor, section B
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 1L1
Canada

Sounds like the only original document they want is the FBI report.

Anyone in a similar situation? My instinct was to send a scan via email AND a hardcopy original via registered mail but now I'm thinking the email is sufficient. Thoughts?

GypsySoul, My husband's application was sent on August 27/15 Here is our timeline

app submitted/rec'd, Aug 27/15
AOR Oct 15/15
Sponsor Approval Nov 2/15
File transfered/ Started processing Nov 6/15

We did the medical, FBI reports, and paid all the fees upfront. Haven't heard a word since then. It would be great if they'd put a little blip on there saying yeah yeah we're on it! Anything to give us a little peace of mind here! Good luck to you and everyone else in here waiting and waiting. It'll happen! We all just have to have faith and be patient. I'm gonna really dislike that expression by the time we get this done! haha

then got email from LVO for addition documents 18.11.2015 , afterwards no communication ..

can any one guide me whats AOR2 ? SA ?

my online status shows In processs .

Hello congrats on your processing it's looking good for you. SA=Spousal Aproval- you get this email when the sponsor has been approved and the file is transferred to the visa office. AOR2= Acknowledgement of receipt- is the email you will receive from the visa office staying they have receive your application. From what I understand they have requested additional documents meaning they contacted you which is the AOR2. If you your online status is saying "in process " it's cause their either working on your file or its in que. Did it changed to in process after you sent the additional documents?
