Same thing happens when I use my receipt number. What works (for me) is my id number. Not sure why the receipt number doesn't work, but when I use my id it shows that I'm in process.

Are you the applicant or the sponsor? I am the applicant and I cannot check ECAS with my details (I have a UCI from when I participated in the IEC program).

My wife has a UCI number (it is on her Canadian citzenship certificate) and I cannot use that either.

I have read that some people cannot check ECAS until after they receive sponsor approval but it would be nice if CIC were consistent.

I am in the same boat. Just called CIC and was told the same. The file hasn't been looked at. They received my re-sent application on Sept.29 even though it was originally received on August 6. Anyway the guy at CIC told me that it's probably been filed as received Sept. 29 and will be processed accordingly. Too bad because they sent our original app back to us requesting forms that were not outdated. Such is life. Keep waiting and go on with life. Good luck !!!!

P.S. The call was answered in about 10 minutes. Not bad and the guy was very polite and helpful

Same thing here. I just called CIC. They said they confirmed they received my updated form and send out an email yesterday, and my file is in process right now. However, they told me I will receive the SA by the end of Dec. I don't know how they calculated it. My representative told me he haven't receive any emails from CIC.

The guy at CIC told me that since the date my app was re-received was Sept. 29, then that's the day from when I should start calculating the wait time. So he said to keep checking the CIC posted wait time and when it says they are reviewing apps from Sept. 29 and IF I haven't heard anything then I should call back and they can check again. Unfortunately since we originally sent our app Aug 3, we have basically lost 2 months due to an error on their end. Life!!!

That's not fair .. some of applicants have got their SA really quickly after they subbmited the new form and we have to wait another 2 months :o

My application was not returned. I submit it Aug 11, I updated the form Sep 11, but I still need to wait. They told me I will be in line from Oct 9. That's not fair at all. I don't know who did something wrong.

What's worse is that NONE of our forms were outdated. They made a mistake or just didn't check carefully and sent our app back without reason. The problem is there is nothing anyone can do about it. CIC no accountability. Everyone just has to wait and try to continue with their lives in the meantime.

Hi guys,

My first stage is approved and has transferred to my home country visa office.

I have a question, I have been living in Canada for 4 years, do I need to

apply for police clearance in Canada? or have one from my home country which I

have lived over 6 months?

You do not need to apply for a police clearance certificate for Canada. CIC will do their own security checks.

Your application should contain police clearance certificates for any country other than Canada providing that you have lived there for 6 months and upwards.

I called using this number 1-613-944-4000 which is long distance but I got through to a guy in about 10 minutes and he was helpful although they can't really do anything for you but to tell you if your file has been looked at or not. Maybe try that number.

when I read the guideline, it showed as long as I stay in any country for over 6 months, I need apply for criminal records. Thanks for your answer, now I am not worried that I didn't attach criminal record from Canada.

I don't have an id number... but the receipt not working for you sends me at ease. Lol

See this.

It states

These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six (6) consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18..

I didn't get the guy's name but maybe because most people are calling the toll-free number, the people answering this number are more relaxed and willing to answer your questions. Anyway give it a try.
