I also called CIC today, I spoke with a really nice agent, no wait time as well.

He took time to confirm and update my information and then got my client ID to check my application status. He came back after 2 minutes on hold and he said:

"I am actually glad you called today, your file has been transferred to your local office. Your local office is Vancouver. You are on queue for test invitations"

Good news.

Just noticed something, Scarborough only has January 9, 2015 updated on their website so far for a Citizenship ceremony.
hmmm : Do I smell same and next day ceremonies for Scarborough January the 8th and 9th test takers?

P.S. Kitchener, Windsor, Hamilton, Kingston have dates spread through out January.
Hamilton and Windsor have ceremonies as early as December 30, 2014
With Mississauga doing ceremonies every day in January back into February

lets hope they update some more dates for Scarborough soon, This way the folks being called in for tests can complete their journey in a timely manner.

My family has applied on 22nd August and the received paper AOR without C000XXXXX file number. I could not apply with them as I had a pesnding case in provincial court which concluded satisfactorily on 23rd December. I sent in my application today 24th December and it is expected to reach CIC on 29th December.

My family's application went into "IN PROCESS" on 6th November according to E-cas. On 9th December they received a letter from CIC Sydney that the initial review has been completed on 4th December and now it has been sent to Program Support Unit (PSU) for final review. The letter indicated that PSU will contact us if they need any further documentation from us.

On calling CIC we found out that this could be due to parentage issue as my 2 minor children use my surname and my wife uses her birth surname so CIC needs to verify parentage.

We decided to be proactive and sent then a letter explaining the surname as well as enclosing a copy of my passport biographical page, my PR Card as well as my landing document which lists my wife and 2 children as my dependents when we first migrated to Canada in 2011 as Permanent Residents.

Can you provide more information about the letter sent. I applied with my children for citizenship process. My children carry the surname of their father. While I use my family surname and have not taken my husband surname. I have now received a letter that my application has been transferred to PSU.
The birth certificates carry my and my husband names. So it should have been okay.
What type of letter should I write and to whom should I send it. Any address? Regards

What we did was wrote the explanation as to why I had not applied with my family, and explained that my wife maintains her birth surname and my 2 minor children use my (father) surname (this is evident from the PR card, landing doc and passport copies my wife sent with their application). We also included copies of my passport, PR card and landing document which shows my surname which is same as my 2 minor children. The letter was addressed to the Manager Programs Support Unit (as indicted in the letter you have received). The address is on the top of that letter, though mind you it is a P. O. box address, therefore I used purolator as I wanted a signature to confirm the delivery of my letter so the address is the same as where we initially sent the application -

B1P 5Z2

Hi Donvalley,

In my case the letter we received was just to inform us the preliminary review of the application was done and it has been sent to PSU unit for final review. CIC will get in touch with us if they require any further documents.

Having read in this forum that case sent to PSU is like a picking a luck winner in a lottery, we wanted to know the reason as to why her application was sent to PSU and what does it mean?

My wife called the CIC helpline and was lucky to get an agent who was willing to put that extra effort into his job and checked the resources he had available to him and informed my wife that the initial review of her application was complete and her file has been sent to PSU for final review for establishing parentage due to different surname.

My wife on hanging up with the CIC agent we did online research on the CIC website and found "httpsemicolon//wwwdotcicdotgcdotca/english/resources/tools/cit/admin/id/parentdotasp" (not allowed to post links yet!) which indicates that for minor children the parentage is to be established for citizenship purpose.

We therefore decided to be proactive and sent the additional documents with letter of explanation for the same.

I think my citizenship application is complete in all other regards. I got the help of settlement worker to vet it a number of times. I remained for more than three years in Canada. Underwent an English language training for more than two years.

However, I must also mention that my husband, who is the main recipient of our permanent residence, is yet to complete his three years. So he will apply later. I have provided birth certificates for my children, showing me as the mother and my husband as father. However, when he originally applied of permanent residence, at that time the birth certificates were only in his name. The children passports also carry only their father' names. The PR cards, as the children were and are minor, also carry his signature.

We got new birth certificates with inclusion of my name as the mother, and submitted these with my application to prove the parentage. So I sense that the parentage may be an issue for my case being referred to PSU.

I will also contact the CIC number and as you advised also prepare the letter with all the explanation and send it to the address.
