hi,
My bf and I just started living together.
We r planning to apply for the pr after 1 yr from now on.
These are the proofs that we can think of right now. Please let me know if they are solid and if not what to add more!
Thank you

list:
  • A notarized letter from my mother in law who is the landlord of the condo unit we live in
  • Joint bank account statement ( we will be using it for grocery and eating out etc)
  • My mother in law’s Costco card showing both my bf and me as same address residents
  • Amazon receipts showing me and him ordering to the same address
  • Each other’s telephone bill shows the same address for a year
  • Vehicle insurance statement showing I’m covered under my bf’s vehicle
  • Each other’s driver’s license showing the same address
  • Revenu Québec and CRA slips showing the same address for a year
  • College transcripts showing the same address
  • Each other’s bank account/ credit card bills, e transfer history and joint account statements to show how we support each other financially
  • Letters from family/friends
  • Social media posts showing us as a couple
  • 20 photos with him and my family together for Christmas
Since we are both college students, we are not working. His uni insurance states to be covered by his insurance I should have lived with him for a yr. I will get the insurance statement after a year passes and when I’m qualified.

Also, my bf is a Quebec resident. As far as I know, it is not necessary to go through financial assessment. But I’m wondering if it’s generally required for us to prove how we are supporting ourselves. And if it is, do you think bank statement of savings of 150k is enough?

please let me know
Thank you in advance ◡̈

1) How would the Costco card show your bf and yourself as same address residents?

Hey
I’ve seen other posts mentioning that u can add ur gf/bf as an extra card holder if u live together. So that’s what I’m gonna do.

what do u think about the other ones?

In my opinion,, the testimony of family members is something that is easy to arrange. Making it notarized doesn`t add to its value.
20 photos from one Christmas party is as good as just one photo. In my understanding they are looking for 20 photos that attest your relationship by showing you in a social activities at different times and context; not a single family gathering (although, one photo from that gathering is important).
Although, many on this forum consider cohabitation = common-law, it's actually not. It's "cohabitation in a conjugal relationship" - you need to prove both parts. Amazon purchases are good but will it be enough to distinguish roommates from a couple?
Common bank account is more substantial.
Common Costco - it can be just for convenience...

Why don`t you just marry? You'll get rid of any uncertainty regarding your common-law status....

My application is also a common-law but it's like 10+years of history with every year covered with tons of documentation like major purchases (appliances, furniture), common bank accounts, co-signed leases, power of attorney with full rights etc...). And I'm can't really be sure it's enough, :)

Hi
Thank u for ur reply

As I said we r still students and we are not out of school. No solid job either. We wanna get married once things are settled and don’t wanna hurry for immigration and skipping important moments for that.

for the photos!! I meant to say 20 photos including Christmas gatherings. Not 20 photos from one Christmas.
but I got what you mean.
Thank you!!
