Does anyone know the protocol on coming to Canada on a visitor visa?

We are very impatient to get to Canada (applying outland from Australia) and want to finish waiting for approval in Canada instead of Australia with my partner coming on a visitor visa.... is this possible? Does it mess up the "passport request"? The application was just sent to Sydney, Aus visa processing office.

No, they won't work. It's holiday across Canada.

Hiya,

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that Australia is a visa exempt country, which means you can enter Canada under dual intent. Essentially, this means that you can arrive and state to the border agent that you are in the middle of applying for permanent residence and wish to wait in Canada (provided you can prove that you will leave the country if the application is not successful- ie. a return ticket). As far as I know, you can stay comfortably for 6 months, though could request longer.

@JoshC went through the process and made a few posts about it. We intend to do the same in October.

Are you using the right forms? The spousal sponsorship checklist and guides have the addresses on there. Sydney is indeed the place to send outland sponsorship applications, but there are two slightly different addresses - one for regular mail, and one for using a courier service.

Thank you for the reply.Yes its the one for mail but im just confused its written federal skilled worker.my application has nitging to do with work or skills amd my ecas is just saying application received and no aor yet.so im confused

Sadly NDVO takes 4-6 months to process the application once received. Even January applicants are waiting to hear from NDVO.

When did you get decision made and PPR? I have to say you went pretty quickly, we have almost the same timeline. What additional documents did they asked for?

Yes it is quick hopefully visa will be in the Manila VO this week or next week. I had additional Documents for Police Clearance in USA and Qatar. Good thing i finished it in 2 weeks. I don't have idea how much time will wait for the visa on my passport.

When was your file transferred to Manila VO? Was it CPC-Mississauga asking for Police clearances?

about one month ago i think i am not sure my wife received a letter from cic..that is said my documents is in manila VO..they will just ask for police clearance if you work in different countries for more than 6months
