Yeah, it's kinda buried in the instructions which are like 20 pages...
The only reason I saw it was because I had printed the instructions and went through them line by line to make sure we didn't forget anything...
We sent our package via FedEx so we saw when it was signed for. When I saw that you got a barcode to include in your package for them to scan I knew getting a text back would mean they had opened our package so we did that too.

I wish they'd put it somewhere a little more obvious for people to see....

Sounds like they really want people to use this option. I missed it completely. I know the package was received last week. But as for opening, I guess I will have to wait for sponsor approval decision. Good to know though. Thanks for posting this.

I'm sponsoring my wife from the US. We sent our application via the USPS last week and it was received on Friday April 7. Anxious to receive the acknowledgement. ;D

I think it's mainly good as an alternative to mailing with signature required.
It doesn't really mean anything more that it has been received, but I was interested to see how long the packages were in the mailroom before being opened.
More of a fun experiment for me, but I would definitely recommend for anyone sending their package in without signature required on delivery.

A bit of good news; there are a few people whose packages were received on 3/27 and 3/28 are just now getting AOR. I'm hoping that means those of us whose packages arrived 4/3 and 4/4 will start to see AOR the first few days of next week.

We are a tiny bit concerned about our app being returned because my wife included only her 2015 Notice of Assessment as she hadn't filed her 2016 taxes yet.
After we saw this was happening to some people (not all) she called CIC and they said some officers are returning apps because of that and some aren't.
Which seems ridiculous to me since A) taxes aren't even due yet and it takes a week or 2 to get your NoA after you've filed, and B) I would think something basic like that would be done the same by all the officers...

Anyway, we're just hoping we get someone who doesn't consider that a reason to return our app and in the meantime she has filed her taxes so we are prepared either way.

Good luck to us all on a speedy process!

Well if you have "Myaccount" with cra notice of assesmebt is available immediately after you submit and it can be printed unless theres an error on the return that triggers a 8week delay.

Unfortunately, both Friday and Monday are holidays in Canada, so I think it will be later than that. I am a 3/28 gal and still no AOR, hoping to receive it today so that I don't have to wait until Tuesday! With the 3/29, 3/30, and 3/31 folks still waiting, I think AORs for 4/3 and 4/4 are a bit further off due to the holiday. Not trying to be a debbie downer, just reminding so that nobody gets too nervous. :)

I would have to agree. I'm a 4/4 applicant and am not expecting to hear anything until 4/24 and so on. Anything before that would be a bonus ;D

Crap. Same boat here. I haven't filed my 2016 taxes yet either. Hoping they don't send it back. Guess I should send my taxes in. Maybe longterm employment vs self employment would be a factor? I've been with my employer for 10 years now. I know that some self employed people have fluctuating incomes year to year....

One of the required documents for the sponsor is to include a Option C Printout or Notice Of Assessment for the most recent taxation year which would be 2016. It states online that if you are unable to provide the Option C Printout or Notice of Assessment that you must attach a letter of explanation as to why you can't submit it. I waited to send my application until my partner received hers and I got mine even though it's not hugely necessary for the applicant.

Hope this information helped you :)

Since 2016 taxes are not due until April 30, 2017, many would (and have) assumed that the "most recent taxation year" is 2015.

My most recent tax year is 2015. I have seen people who submitted 2015 option c get aor without any issue

i submitted my taxes online and was able to get a notice of assessment print out within a few days of filing

New here..
Application received on April 3rd and signed by R Mam hood..
