We got the text late yesterday afternoon.
I know every little thing will get me over-excited, but if they scanned the barcode that means our package has been opened! :)
I got my fingerprinting done yesterday through an approved channeler and I should have access to my FBI report in 3-5 business days. I also have form 5669 ready to go.
Even if we haven't gotten AOR1 by the time I get my report back I'm going to attempt to link our application as some people have had success linking before receiving AOR1. That way I can go ahead and upload those documents right away.
My wife and I got married in January 2015 and we were about to submit our paperwork March 2015 when we ran into financial issues so she couldn't sponsor me right away.
We've been waiting 2 LONG years, so forgive me if I'm a little excited ;D ;D ;D

Thanks CPA!
There's a link on the CIC website. Basically you text "enroll" to the number on the instructions you get a reply text with a link to a pdf with a barcode. You print the barcode page and put it in with your application package. When they open your package, they scan the barcode and you get a text confirming.
We tracked our package so we know when it delivered, but decided to do the text thing to see how long before the package was actually opened.
I was curious how long the package would be there before they actually opened it and started reviewing for completeness.

Thanks! Wow...it was received and opened yesterday..that was quick...

True enough, as per OP1 advise, spouse will be processed within 6 months ;D

I've been reading these forums for 3 years now. Since we realized we were finally going to be able to apply I've been intently following applicants for this year who used the new forms/process.
Of course, everyone's mileage will vary depending on their circumstances, but it seems like March applicants are getting processed a little faster than Jan and Feb were.
I am encouraged that the new process seems to be getting the kinks worked out and they seem to be picking up speed. If we are lucky, that bodes well for those of us applying now (fingers crossed).
If you haven't already, I encourage you to read the threads for Feb and March 2017 so you can get an idea of where some of the issues have been happening with the new process.
That way, you can get ahead of any potential delays or issues and use the work-arounds the previous applicants have already figured out.

Just my 2 cents...

Good luck everyone!

Round 2 lets do this! ;) Application was delivered today and signed by D.David. Is there an April spreadsheet yet?

Hello everyone,

I am hoping you guys can help me :)

My husband and I will start processing my papers so I could be with him finally. Problem is, I don't know how to get started.

Could someone will advise what we should do first? We have visited the Canada immigration website but we are still at a lost. Would it be ok if we print out all forms needed to apply for sponsorship (my husband hasn't apply yet), I'll fill out everything I needed to fill out and mail it to my husband and he'll do his part, then send it Mississauga? Please help!

Thanks in advance

When you submitted your returned application did you guys returned the highlighted checklist or did you print a new one?

I called CIC this morning, with the same question. The agent told me as long as I all my forms were still within 90 days of being signed I could resend them. Following this conversation I included my highlighted checklist and the omitted information when I resent my application. Good luck!

i wish I would have seen this before I sent my application....would have saved me a bit not requiring a signature upon delivery with canada post

Yeah, it's kinda buried in the instructions which are like 20 pages...
The only reason I saw it was because I had printed the instructions and went through them line by line to make sure we didn't forget anything...
We sent our package via FedEx so we saw when it was signed for. When I saw that you got a barcode to include in your package for them to scan I knew getting a text back would mean they had opened our package so we did that too.

I wish they'd put it somewhere a little more obvious for people to see....
