Congrats . My application was received on April 20 th, 2016 didnt receive any SA email or letter but file is already transferred as of June 15,2016 to LVO.

Now long wait for DM started :D

Oh the inconsistencies of cic communication and process time! My spouse insisted on changing her name to mine despite some people telling us that it could delay our application. So last Monday the papers were delivered at the vo with the new passport info etc. By Saturday the names have all been changed and Ecas updated! So hard to predict this journey

Hi, you don't need your PR card to get a SIN# or apply for most provinces' healthcare (you will want to confirm which province you are in).

For your SIN#, you need to go to a service canada office in your area. All you need is your COPR and passport.

If you are in ontario, and you are applying for OHIP, your COPR and passport will count as 2 of the 3 required documents to apply. you will need to go to service ontario's website to look at the required document list and see what is required for proving residency. the list is very strict. You can then take everything to the service ontario office in your area to apply.

Basically, in most provinces, the COPR and passport work for everything you need a PR card for (this is true for Ontario). There are some exceptions to this rule, as some people have posted about issues in some provinces.

I am in BC, Canada!

I work with ICBC here. Most of the things for new comers remain same across all the provinces. You can apply for SIN number, and PR is not required for job hunt, unless you want to be a consultant, for which PR verification is done by 3rd party agencies. With regards to healthcard, again PR card is not required per se. For MSP, id proof is required.

And for drivers licence, i strongly suggest to convert your existing drivers licence into permemnant one, within 90 days of entering new province.

Things are very laid back here.
