CONGRATS everyone for updates :)

Hi There,

Husband is Egyptian im Canadian. Been together around 3 and a half years and married since last April.

My work is seasonal in Canada just 4 or 5 months of the year at a hotel which I have worked there the last 4 years. After the 4 or 5 months my work finishes I go back to Egypt to stay with my hubby as he cant come to Canada obviously. I have started the papers for visa however im told I am supposed to be on Canadian soil 6 months of the year or live outside Canada as long as we are planning on living in Canada once the visa is accepted. The choice on the visa papers is those living exclusively outside Canada (which im not, I work in Canada about 4 to 5 months of the year). What do I do on the visa papers in this regard??

Thank you!

Kind regards,

Emily

I read that sometimes after a doc request, CIC doesn't open up your file again until the "due date" of that document. (In our case that is 16 weeks away even though I responded with what was requested within 6 hours.)

Is this what happens more often than not? Does anyone have any insight?

there really is no standard. it depends on the visa office and the officer. not sure if it's ever been tracked on here what people experience the most. i got a doc request before AOR and SA. my application started processing before the due date, and it only delayed the SA 2 weeks. this was in 2014.

they wont wait for the due date if the documents requested is available to them asap.means if they dont receive the documents rquested before due date they wont bother you until due date

that is certainly not true. there are certainly people who submitted doc requests before the due date and had to wait until that date passed before status changed or CIC contacted them again. i'm not sure where you are getting this info from. "technically" they don't have to do anything about the request until that date.

Please don't post your question on multiple threads. It's considered rude. It takes time for people to respond to questions. I personally am not completely sure about your case, but you did post your own thread and I suggest you keep an eye on it for replies. You only just posted it an hour ago.

technically they dont have to do anything with your file until the due date
but depends on the immigration officer who is handling the file can look into your file any time he wants and if he finds the document requested is available to hime he would update it
courtesy gcms notes *many persons*at multiple stages of pr process
if you want further information
you can find it on
professional immigration/skilled worker/ see posts from diplomatru

Yep, there is due date and that's when they normally check

It really depends on what status you enter Egypt ? Are you resident of country? Do you earn any income during your stay in Egypt ? Do you go to Egypt under tourist visa?

Read something about the "proposed" changes in immigration by the new PM: http://www.canadim.com/justin-trudeau-canadian-immigration/

Anyone knows their progress esp to the ones regarding family/spousal?

Just a reminder, next Thursday (May 26th) we will be able to link our PR applications to a MyCIC account. I've heard that these may be close to as detailed as GCMS notes. I look forward to being able to be able to more accurately check my application status, especially if I don't hear anything about SA by then. However, this WON'T include the sponsor's portion of the application.

Hopefully it is improved over my trv experiences. It would show nothing until it suddenly showed the decision they had made. Certainly no details.

For PR applications it's supposed to be more detailed, but I haven't seen any specifics on this yet. We won't really know until it's up and running. I doubt it can be any worse than eCAS already is.
