I think sometime it takes 2 weeks after Ottawa receives it. But also seen cases where people get it back before 8 days from the day Ottawa receives it.

Someone in this forum from Toronto got it back within a few days after sending it.

So it can vary from 5 to 7 days to more than 2 weeks - I suppose it is a matter of luck when there is no transparent process.

Hi Guys,

I sent my passport for visa stamping last week but I am in tricky situation and would really appreciate help from you Guys -

I need to travel back to my home country asap to address a family matter, I will stay there for a month, I am planning to travel as soon as I would get my passport back but I am not sure if I will be able to enter back to Canada based on the PR VISA stamp I would get for landing? If that's allowed then I would do landing at the port of entry (Toronto airport).

I still have my open WP valid till Oct, 2015 and I will be back before that.

That's what Visa is for, no matter what type of visa. If it's valid you can travel back from anywhere.

You can use Immigration VISA to enter Canada. Also it has pretty long validity as well.
It makes perfect sense for you to travel back home and finish your business in your home country.
Once returning you can show your Immigration VISA to Border Officer and they will guide you to finish landing as PR.

Attention : dont forget to carry your CoPR with you when you enter Canada otherwise they can make you go back and tell you to come back with CoPR and VISA.

I finally landed last Friday at Prescott (Ottawa), and the process is pretty straightforward. I just showed CPR and my passport, and no other documents were asked. The officer at the border took my work permit from my passport and attached the CoPR document instead. Now I am waiting for the PR card to arrive.

My question is: do I have to renew my healthcard? I renewed my healthcard only a couple of weeks ago using my last work permit, and I wonder if it's still valid? Also the information sheet enclosed with the CPR says, "New immigrants may not be eligible for public health insurance for up to three months after arrival". I hope this doesn't apply someone like me who have already been in Canada on work permit?

Any response will be greatly appreciated!

As I have seen in the other places of this blog, after landing you should apply for new health card and new SIN number because you will get your SIN in a new format and then you have to update your employer and CRA about the SIN change.

How long did it take you to get your CoPR documents in the post? According to CIC, mine were sent on April 28th but still no sign of them! (I'm in Toronto by the way)
