Hello. I would appreciate any advice or experience on the following matter of ours:

In the invitation letter they ask to bring all the documents that were submitted in the original application (that we sent back in April). Do I need to bring all the paperwork related to children as well or just the documents related to me - the one who will do the test?

Thank you in advance for all the inputs.

i would recommend you take with you all the original documents related to you and your children. you won't lose anything if you take everything with you. better safe than sorry.

I would also recommend you translate the stamps on your passport even the ones before you land in Canada. I have a friend who was asked about a few stamps and had to tell the officer the dates verbally and fortunately the officer was nice and believed him but you never know.

An additional thing, if possible bring the CBSA report because sometimes, the officers at the Airports do not stamp your passport when entering Canada and that could cause you problems. double check the stamps on your passport.

hope this information helps

Hello everyone,
I just got back from my test in Mississauga. Test was fine. Pretty straightforward, but I can't say it was easy or anything because I put in a good amount of time studying. Anyway glad that is over. The interview also went well. But it was long because I had a lot of absences. The officer looked at EVERY stamp in my passport so it took awhile. I explained my absences and she seemed satisfied and put them in the notes. I also brought a lot of supporting documentation like several years of NOAs and a letter from my employer stating that I have been a full-time employee for a long time. She copied all of these and entered them in the notes. At the end of it, she said that it looks good to her but of course the judge has to sign off on it. But at least I made it this far. I got my oath ceremony letter and it is scheduled for next week. Still not out of the woods yet, but glad I made it this far! But I won't rest easy until I am an actual citizen!

Good luck everyone!

I would like to add that do take photocopies of your passport (ALL PAGES). Although it is not recommended but I would say take it because it will show a good impression.

Good Luck

Thanks! But again, I'm not in the clear yet so I won't celebrate until it is all over.

My oath ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Dec 6th.

When you enter the building, they will have people who need to write the test to line up. Then you enter the test room. They check your PR card and the letter they sent you for the test and make sure you are on the list to take the test. Then you take the test.. 20 questions, multiple choice. When you are done, you hand in the exam booklet and sheet and then wait outside the room. When 30 minutes pass, they let everyone in and then you have to wait for your interview. This can be the longest time spent unless they call you early. The interview let you know your test results and the check all the documents and ask you questions. What they ask depends on you. For me, most of my time was spent explaining my absences. If interview goes well and you passed the test, then they will give you an oath letter with date and instructions on the oath ceremony. They also say that the judge will look at your application and reserves the right to call you in for additional interview. If that happens, you will know in a few days and your oath ceremony is cancelled. Hence you are not in the clear even if you get the oath ceremony letter (which is why I am not celebrating). But at this stage I would assume you are close.

Good luck! The exam was straight forward. No tricky questions, just questions similar to what you see in the many practice tests out there.

Thanks. I never got an RQ. There is still a chance that the judge will want an interview since a judge will look over all the applications one final time so again, I will not celebrate until it is official.

It is good to be well prepared always and be confident but please do not worry unnecessarily.

Thanks! Got a perfect score! I studied my ass off. That website you recommended for the practice tests was really handy! Thanks for that tip! Not only did it help me retain facts, but it made me used to the test format so I was comfortable taking the actual test. I also found sample tests in the library (online off the library website) which was very useful.

I can also finally rest easy... had my oath ceremony today and now I am officially a citizen! Much more relaxing day.

Thanks to everyone for all the support and good luck to you all!

Are you in Vancouver area? Did you get any RQ?
