Could it be a case of them losing your application? I know that that's the last thing you want to hear, but I think at this stage you have to start questioning what exactly is going on. There is no way it should take this long for sponsorship approval, unless there is some issue with your background. I think I read that you said there is nothing in terms of criminality or financial stuff, so if that's all good, there must be something they're not telling you.

I'd call back and ask to speak to a supervisor (do they have supervisors?). You might also contact the VO and see if they have your file. Did the call center give you a UCI or file number?

Good luck and I really hope you get all this sorted ASAP!!

Something weird is up. I'm starting to have thoughts wondering if I've been the victim of identity theft or something? Absolutely nothing is wrong with my background. I don't make a lot of money and have a small amount of debt, from the application fee which I haven't been able to earn back yet. I paid taxes the years working overseas, as self employed. My parents never allowed me to tie myself to that logging truck in the Walbran in the 90's like I wanted to :P :P :P So no criminal record. I just don't know. I guess what bugs me is that a born citizen is left waiting for all this time with no plausible answer. But that applies to a lot of us around here. Can the VO (Mississauga) see that I have been calling the call center? How would I contact them? The call center told me to wait another 2 weeks and if no answer was given then I could take more action.

Forget waiting any longer. Call them every day. Ask to speak to a supervisor. Demand an answer. You are the 'client'. I highly doubt it's a case of identity theft. I really hate to utter these words, but I am leaning towards them losing your application. Do you have a confirmation number from the courier?

They have the application. How else would they know it arrived April 30th? My Ecas says that. They said they opened it August 2nd. Unless they lost it, or something happened to it since then. I've been paying interest on that application fee for 4 months now while it languishes there untouched. I think we should only have to pay after the visa is delivered :P that would be good incentive!

Oh yeah.. and there was no courier. It was plain old Canada Post.

good luck - it must be really hard waiting. Here keeping my fingers crossed so you can hear any day soon - feel sorry that you have to wait so long.
Good luck!

People in January waited a month for approval. They didn't lose your app. You'll get approval. It's hard to say what's going on but 90% of the time there is an explanation.

There is an update on CIC website working on application recieved on june 25th and the waiting time for first stage approval is 66 days wow

Does this give me good reason to contact my MP? How 'late' does an application have to be before I can make a fuss?

Have you heard nothing at all Steph?

How long has it been since they opened your application?

Zilch. They have extended no communication towards me, aside from me calling the call center. The call center confirms my address, phone number and email address each time. I got a client ID through calling, and with that my Ecas works.

The call center told me it was opened on August 2nd but recieved April 30th.
Sorry for all my complaining.. But it's really worrisome because tomorrow is the 4 month anniversary of them holding the package in Mississauga. I don't have anyone else to complain to except here :P If I talk about it with my partner he gets extremely sad about the unusual delays, so I just tell him the visa is still processing.. just to wait a little longer :'(

yes, call your MP, you have every right! CIC publicly states the waiting times and you have surpassed that. Be firm yet polite so that you can get answers. All the luck to you my dear!

that's okay Steph C...that is what this forum is about.....and yes you need to stay positive for your partner but it is hard with no communication from CIC whatsover....so very frustrating.....my girlfriend who is not on this forum just told me tonite that she doesn't have approval either and she is April 26th.....she went through a lawyer and thought she had it 2 months ago and I said to her what is her UCI # and File # and when she phoned her lawyer to find out the lawyer did not have approval.....nothing.....so not sure what is happening with the last few of you from April :( but vent here for sure...there is always someone to pump you back up even though it's probably the last thing you want to hear....but hang in there it will be worth it in the end for sure..... :D

You have every right to complain. I'd contact your MP once the application has been worked on for one month. So sept 2. And call daily.

Thanks guys. I just wrote another email to my MP. The last email he didn't answer personally, because he forwards all immigration-related things to a personal assistant. But I asked him to please personally address it. I think 4 months is enough now. I hope sending that email will be the luck I need to hear word before this weekend ::)
