I knew there was a case in the forum of local Chinese Immigrants, who submitted the application in April and the application has been transferred to Ottawa to process and got approval in July 11, 2012.

Quick Update: I finally reached CIC by phone this morning. The agent advised me that my file is currently being worked on, and I can expect an answer on sponsorship approval (stage 1) by August 11th.

I'm now even more confused, as I was under the impression that sponsorship approval was fairly straight-forward after receipt of AOR (which was 5 days ago). My sponsor has no criminal history, and has never claimed any government assistance. Additionally, my immigration application status says that medical results have been received, which would suggest that stage 2 processing has already commenced.

I guess time will tell!
