How are they still working on applications from Feb 1st?! :( Sheesh, this is going to be a long wait.

Apparently, this is not surprising of CIC. remember in March, 3 weeks that they were working on January 25 then on 4th week it went back to January 18, then 17, then 19. that's a total of 6 weeks of no movement (and backward movement) . It is really frustrating, that's why up to now some January applicants still have no approval.. I hope it gets faster as they approach your batch, and not endure what we endured =(

How do you hear receipt of application? Email? If so, who's email? Sponsors or applicants?

Most likely we won't get a acknowledgement of receipt. The sponsorship approval will go to the sponsor (either mail or email) and correspondence from the visa office will go to the sponsored.

Hello sis!:) congrats! im so happy for you finally na DM kna:) ang bilis ng timeline mo it's all worth the effort talaga:)

Hi guys, don't worry about AOR, never got one!! In total they sent me two letters. Was good enough for me.

Good luck everyone

One month gone already. yay. The first month was easy. The backlog might cause some faster processing at the visa offices by the time it is our turn.
How is everyone keeping?

Focused on the end game. Trying to stay positive and set goals. Also doing my best to have future plans to look forward to in the short term (like a short holiday to Hong Kong in the summer). I've been exercising a lot and eating healthy food...already lost 5kgs!

My main problem is not the waiting time...well...sort of...actually, it's my job...I hate it...I want to resign so badly, but I can't because we need to keep saving...it's tough...really tough...

Our son, on the other hand, is such a blessing...he is developing very well and when I am with him all my troubles fade away...

I really want to know if the VO separates the applications into 1) easy and obviously real and 2) more complicated and not sure about genuineness. My wife thinks this is how they do it...but we have no way of knowing for sure. I was thinking of sending an e-mail to the HK VO and asking about it...my wife also said that she has read it's a good idea to keep sending the VO e-mails every week to enquire about the progress...I understand why (to keep pushing them to finish quickly), but I worry this may actually piss them off and cause them to purposely delay the visa...what do you guys think???

I would not bother sending emails. Each email may cause more work of reading it and take time away from more important things. I doubt that they even read all emails. Knowing or not will not change the waiting time. Enjoy your time with your wife and child. I wish i could beam myself to my wife and give her a hug. Waiting apart is really hard and i am getting tired of cyber kisses and the pc to communicate. Another 107 days before I can give my wife a real hug. This seems more important than the step 1 waiting time. Our Anniversary is in 3 weeks and we will celebrate it apart.
Time will solve all. I hate my job too, but there is no getting out for now. Will be great to unite and have a exciting life that is not depending on bureaucracy.

My wife thinks the same thing, we were talking about that the other day, wondering if they have queues separating cases... it's all a mystery. But it kinda fits in with how some cases get approved really fast and others don't. Then there's the applications that are real but are a mess, from researching I found out that the VOs really don't like messy applications which I understand.

I totally agree mobeyk, I too am sick of cyber kisses, i strangely associate the sound of skype with my fiance now, I feel like i am in a relationship with a computer, we still have another 4 months till we can see each other and its already been 7 months and 9 since he left. And I agree about the hug, I would do almost anything for a hug from him right now ! Good luck to you and may our time go fast so we can both hold and hug our loved ones for the rest of our lives :)

It sucks that some of you have to spend so much time away from your loved ones. I can't imagine not waking up next to my sweetie every morning. I hope the time goes really quickly for all of us so we can all live our happily ever afters.

Well its not all bad, at least we are in a day in age where we can use things like skype, facebook and email to keep in touch and have an everyday connection that doesn't cost us ridiculous amounts of money, we are truly lucky to have all these modern conveniences to take us through this process, I cant imagine how hard it would be if I wasn't able to see my fiance on daily basis, even if through a computer screen, I can see how he looks, tell how he is feeling and in a way keeps us more connected, so despite my bitching, I am very grateful to have these ways of communication, could not imagine if we were relying on phone and snail mail, I would have lost my mind by now !

I'm so sick of being in a long distance relationship. I've found that it's much more difficult since we got married in November. It's just not right for a married couple to be apart from each other! And while I deeply appreciate Skype for it's convenience, even that is starting to get old.

Talking about how easier technology makes on long distance relationships, could you imagine going through the immigration process without a forum and support group?? :o I'm SO grateful for all the help and info that I've received and surely my application would have been sent back to me if it wasn't for this place! lol

Am I the only one who gets constantly questioned about how the application is coming along from friends and family?? "Have you heard anything yet?" it's driving me crazy! Or the oh so annoying, "It must be SO hard to be apart from each other..." ::)

im in canada and people think that i am lazy and don't want to work. The worst I hear is "but you're from England, shouldn't it be easy?" YES! YES GOD DAMNIT! It should be easy. But really, that's neither here nor there. Urgh! Frustrating.

It is a shame that many Canadians have no clue how our immigration system works. I can relate to those who get annoyed by questions like" what, she is still not here?, I thought you would bring her home." or " why do you guys wait so long to come together? I thought she would come with you this time."
I always refer to CIC and the process and get a shocked response. It is just surprising how little people know how things work in our society.
Long distance relationship is a battle to keep positive, to deny yourself the need for warmth and closeness. Sometimes it feels like this is all done on purpose to see who will survive the test. I bet that the fake cases can care less how long it takes, the pain is with the true relationships and those who would like to be reunited.
Lets hope all will be well and lets visualize the day when we all are reunited. Only 106 days left to see each other again. :'(
