It doesn't surprise me in the least that Canadians don't know about our immigration system. Why should they? People are too wrapped up with their own lives to care or even think about it.

What disappoints me is the lack of attention given by the media. This could be a big story...why they don't take it on could be due to politics, but I reckon, like the average Canadian, they are clueless.

In the end, the only way to bring about change is to protest. There's a protest on June 1 in Hong Kong. The last one was in April of this year. The one thing I noticed was that there weren't any white people...it was all Chinese and Indians. I hope more white people come out on June 1 to support the cause.

But on the bright side, we've come to the 1-month mark...only 2 months more and April applicants should have their approvals. 1/3 down...2/3 to go...the first month went by very fast...

Anyone else going to the protest in Hong Kong? I'm going to do my best to make it, even if I need to take a day off work. It starts on the Friday...3 days...hunger strike!!

1/3 according to the data they supply now. If we compare the months on this forum and guesstimate the overall applications it will come down as there are less applications after January/February. I still target for beginning June/mid June. If it takes 2 weeks longer, so be it.

Yes, and we all know how accurate CIC is...

We'll know more (or less) this week when CIC updates the website...but I think you might be right with the timeline, and hopefully April applicants will start getting approved in mid-June or early July.

I was a little excited to see the May applicant thread start, because that means we're no longer the newbies at the waiting game! Hurray for that!

:-\ 1/3 of the way there through phase one. I guess it's something, I'm just glad to have put in the application as soon as we did. Now my days are spent diligently watching/refreshing the Processing Time page on the CIC website. Update to follow.

It is making the media a little bit but not enough for it to make an impact but I do see things here and there. I think we are facing a much bigger problem than CIC, and its called the Harper Government ! With all the cuts that they recently made and laying off of 200,000 federal employee's, I am not suprised that we are seeing a slow down. They scary part is they have just begun the layoffs and the restructoring of the federal departments. I fear that we will see more delays as this is done. They have also shut down a number of VO's which will also add to the slow down as other VO's have to take on the cases from the closed ones, this mainly affects asia and the middle east. Unfortunately Canada is making a lot of changes right now and perhaps not for the better. All we can hope is that they keep pluggin along and working thier way through cases. I use to work in publicity, so i am more than happy to mention this forum and the struggles of the my fellow people here to see if anyone is willing to pick up the story on a larger scale, best I can do

I'm so sick of being in a long distance relationship. I've found that it's much more difficult since we got married in November. It's just not right for a married couple to be apart from each other! And while I deeply appreciate Skype for it's convenience, even that is starting to get old.

Talking about how easier technology makes on long distance relationships, could you imagine going through the immigration process without a forum and support group?? I'm SO grateful for all the help and info that I've received and surely my application would have been sent back to me if it wasn't for this place! lol

Am I the only one who gets constantly questioned about how the application is coming along from friends and family?? "Have you heard anything yet?" it's driving me crazy! Or the oh so annoying, "It must be SO hard to be apart from each other..." :

I agree for sure, skype is getting old fast, just trying to keep my chin up and be thankful for what i have. And you are also right, I too am thankful for this forum and to be able to go through this with others that understand my situation. I to get asked almost everyday when he will be back, why he cant come back after his ban is over because they wont issue him a visa, why is it taking so long ect ect. It just kills me. The worst is from my 6 old daughter that misses him sooo much, she keeps asking when he will be back so they can do this or that, that is the hardest to explain and breaks my heart on a regular basis.
