No that is wrong. It's 88 days from the day your application arrived. They usually decide the same day they open it.

Are you sure ? I sure hope that you are right because that would be alot better, My lawyer had told me its from the time the open the package, but the website does say after they receive the package.

Your lawyer is wrong. The countdown begins from the time the package actually arrives to CIC. Hopefully most will have some form of confirmation from the courier.

Mine was delivered on April 13. So I should hear something on July 13 or the end of July (unless CIC pushes the number of days past 88). It's funny, because I asked the call center agent if it's possible CIC will push the number of days for sponsorship approval past 100 and he laughed and said there's no chance...yeah right...my guess is it will reach 100 days in the next month or so...but whatever happens, nothing any of us can do...just wait and see...

At least some in the January thread are reporting approvals for apps received after January 19. This gives hope that CIC is trying to clear all January apps by the end of April. If that is possible, then there still might be a chance to receive word within 3 months.

We're hoping for the best, saving every penny we can, and planning for the worst...but in the end, it will all work out. I'm not so concerned about the visa, as I am fairly sure it's in the bag, but the time...the time...that's the only thing I am totally uncertain about...

Wish everyone a fast approval and hope that we all get the visa within the 20%!

I stopped checking on the processing times because it keeps getting more depressing every week >:( but hearing it was at 88 days now, I had to check myself to see.

I'm feeling a little bit better about the wait because my husband and I decided that in September, he'll come and stay with me to ride out the rest of the process. It'll be much easier to deal with while we're together.

Ouch, 88 days now - long wait for us lowly April applicants. Interested to hear how others are coping while awaiting judgement - how are you keeping your mind busy and your thoughts clear? Sudoku? Gym? What?
Mostly arguing with DH due to the intense frustrations we all feel!! ::)

88!! Its going up and up. Maybe they are short staffed and on a go slow due to holidays or sickness.
Has Avian Flu hit Canada! :P :P :P
Good plan Sunshine, at least you'll have a solid date to look forward to, and move on from there together ;)

Hi Everyone

My first post. I am a PR in Canada. Got married in India on 4th Feb 2012.

Mailed my application on17th April, 2012 to Mississauga office. Sent it thru' express mail and they told me that it will be there in 2days.

I check the processing time on cic.gc.ca and currently they are processing Jan 18, 2012 applications. Seems to be very very busy.

Pls share your experience.

thx

Hi Everyone

I checked the 'canada post' site and it says my application was delivered on 19th April. Do you know if it will start showing under my client no. (the one on my PR card) on CIC's website????

Hi guys. I just submitted my sponsorship application for my husband this April 10, 2012.

We are going to have a baby by June. I wish to apply for child care subsidy here in Toronto as early as now since the waiting list is pretty long. However I am not sure if getting child care subsidy is classified as a "financial assistance" which a sponsor should not have during the sponsorship period, or if it is classified as a "child benefit" to my unborn Canadian citizen baby.

If anyone has any idea or experienced the same dilemna, I would really appreciate your advice regarding this. I know there is a 49 days waiting period for the approval of my sponsorship. I am now undecided if I wait for the result after 49 days first before applying, or just go with it since the subsidy wont be in effect until I use it by around October or November.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Pls if one gets UCI number after the return your application because the employer did not state well the full duties, task, and periods the employee work with the company what is that UCI number mean and will it affect me if i want to return my application back after getting the write letter explanation from my employer

I don't believe receiving a subsidy is considered a financial assistance, but I could be wrong. Maybe someone else knows for sure..

As i understand it a Canadian Citizen child born outside Canada to a Canadian parent, is able to get things like Child Benefit and the going amount of Child Care funding. Just the same as any other Canadian child.

Thanks Sunshine... i just don't know whom to ask... i was wondering if CIC would be able to answer this question... or it might depend on the immigration officer. I haven't found any post or documentation with the same situation yet.

Thanks Rosie. By the way, I'm living in Toronto and will have my baby born here in Canada. There is the child tax benefit and all the fundings which is automatically provided to the child upon birth. However for the child care subsidy for day care, you have to apply to your city government and they would have to approve if you qualify based on your last tax income. That's why I'm not sure if it classifies as "welfare" or "benefit".
