I just got off the phone with CIC. Why do I even bother calling.. they just frustrate me. I called to see if I was able to update my address yet but my application hasn't been opened yet (I wasn't really expecting it to be, but I just thought there might be a chance). He told me to call back in a MONTH.. but then when I said the processing time is 82 days and my application is at 76 days, he went on about how it's only an estimation and blah blah blah. I'll call back after 82 days and see what they say

Yes that is very frustrating...but they will tell you to call back after your received date has been posted...so right now it is February 29th....so I think yours was April 3rd...so you will get the same blah blah blah until April 3rd date has passed......

Because the last agent I spoke to told me to call back in 2 weeks. It was sort of frustrating that this agent today told me to wait another 4 weeks. The only thing that drives me crazy is the music they play while on hold ;D

They always say that. Or 3 months. Whatever they want to say. Just go by the forum spreadsheets. Your app won't be opened for a little while longer. March is only approved up to the 15th.

I think the spreadsheets are really the only way for us to keep track of things. Calling CIC won't help...

We probably won't be hearing anything for April until at least the end of June, first week of July. All we can do is hope that our applications were transferred to CIC-O, as they seem to be a lot faster!

What??? Really??? Seems impossible!! How can this be...they're not even finished with Feb and only about half of March is finished...

Congrats...I can't believe it...we're not that far off!!! AWESOME!

WOW!! that's great to hear, definitely made my day! april 4th... only a week before mine, I will be checking emails and checking again! it would feel great to be done with step 1... they might be right about 82 days after all... at least for some cases!

That's great! If the spreadsheets are a representation of actual number of people applied (not very realistic, but one can be hopeful) then we have much less applicants in April and May comparing to February and March. Could it translate to faster approvals?

Jas09, what CIC did the approval come from Ottawa or Missisauga? Congrats. It seems they just gather applications for a month in a big room and grab applications just as they are in reach. How else can it be explained that dates sent are approved in such a random order. I feel for the February Applicants that are still waiting. one can be happy to see others who sent their applications 1.5 months later move on but frustration would get a hold even of me. So guessing a approx. time of approval is impossible.Lets see who is next.

Should us Aprilicants start getting excited, or is it too early? I mean, one of ours got approval...but what about the remaining Feb and Mar applicants? I can't make heads or tails of this...how can they move on to April when they haven't even finished the previous two months?

Jas09, can you tell us a little about your case? Do you have children together? How long have you been married? Any info would be helpful so we can get a better idea of how quickly they approve certain apps. Thanks, and again, a big congrats on being the first Aprilicant! My money was on Marty11 or mobeyk!!
