Try and get it stamped and also get a supporting letter from your Husband's boss as Saki suggested.
I personally think don't scrap the idea of writing a cover letter to explain the scenario and attach it with the Work History pack.
In general, your Cover letter should help and I believe you wouldn't have any problem.

My husband's employer has an external contractor agency to issue all sorts of reference letters and the letters come as a soft copy in scanned pdf format. more over the letter is black and white so when we take the printout it looks like a copy of the original one.
I am planning to write a letter to CHC explaining this along with my full application. I will also attach the prints of emails shared between my husband and the letter issuing team as a supporting evidence.
Although this process is still a long way away as I am yet to receive my first AOR just thought if you guys could give me your views on this matter and I would be better prepared when the first AOR comes.
